Brockport Mathematics and Computer Science (BMACS) Scholarship Program
The College has received a grant of $600,000 from the National Science Foundation to provide 28 scholarships of $5,000/year for juniors, seniors and graduate students majoring in physics, mathematics or computer science. This NSF program provides institutions with funds for student scholarships to encourage and enable the achievement of higher education degrees in science, technology, engineering and mathematics by talented but financially disadvantaged students. The program was established in accordance with the American Competitiveness and Workforce Improvement Act of 1998.
Eligibility Criteria for BPMACS Scholarships:
Students must be matriculated at The College at Brockport as a full-time student (minimum 12 credit hours for an undergraduate and 9 credit hours for a graduate) majoring in physics, mathematics or computer science.
Students must have completed a total of at least 55 credits by the beginning of the fall 2010 semester if an undergraduate student (no graduate work required for graduate students).
Students must have a minimum GPA of 3.00 in both their major and overall college course work, or a GPA of 3.20 in both their major and overall college course work during their last two semesters.
Students must complete a FAFSA form and establish financial need based upon eligibility as defined by the US Department of Education rules for financial aid.
Students must be a U.S. citizen, national, alien admitted as a refugee at time of application, or an alien admitted for permanent residence.

Must establish financial need - defined for undergraduate students by the US Department of Education rules for need-based Federal financial aid, or, for graduate students, defined as financial eligibility for Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need (GANN). Applicants must complete a FAFSA form, which will be used to determine eligibility. Must be a U.S. citizen, national, refugee alien or permanent resident alien at time of application. Must have a minimum GPA of 3.00 in both major and total cumulative college course work, or a GPA of 3.20 in both major and college course work during the last two semesters.

Number of Awards
These scholarships are awarded on a semester-by-semester basis. Students making satisfactory progress in their degree program during the fall semester (defined as a GPA of 3.0 both overall and in their major for the semester) will have their scholarships continued during the spring semester.
