Achievement in Community Engagement Scholarship

Scholarship Description
Amount: $500 award. Open to students who will enter their sophomore year at Old Westbury in fall and who successfully participated in the SUNY College at Old Westbury First Year Student Engagement Program during spring. Full-time or Part-time students may apply. Must have at least a 3.25 grade point average (based on a 4 point system) at the time of applying, and must maintain that GPA throughout the academic year. In 500 words or less, candidate must provide a written reply to the following question: “How has your First-Year Student Engagement placement affected your personal outlook?”. Two letters of recommendation on official letterhead, preferably from persons related to the service mentioned in your essay. Though financial need is not a requirement, students should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) with the Office of Financial Aid.
