General Scholarship Awards

Scholarship Description
Established in 1991 by McDonald’s Restaurants of Greater Akron, this scholarship fund provides support to talented minority students. McDonald’s restaurants initiated this scholarship to help outstanding minority students further their education at The University of Akron and to encourage increased numbers of minority students to enroll in higher education programs. Scholarship recipients shall be selected on the basis of academic achievement, financial need, and citizenship. The selection process shall be conducted by the University Scholarship Committee with final approval by McDonald’s Restaurants of Greater Akron. Scholarship awards may be provided to entering freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior students. Previous McDonald’s Minority Scholars shall have first preference for future awards from this scholarship fund.
