In 1998, Mr. And Mrs. Ashel Bryan created an endowed scholarship fund for students at Mercy College of Northwest Ohio to recognize academic excellence and to help students in financial need. Dorothy Bryan, an artist cited for her work with cancer survivors, created the Chemo Paintings during her struggle with cancer. Dorothy, now deceased, had shared her talents and insights with Mercy College students and was the recipient of the College's 1997 Misericordia Et Cura Award, the highest honor bestowed by the Mercy College Board of Trustees. Ashel Bryan, one of the founders of Mid American National Bank & Trust Company, plays a major role in philanthropic efforts in the fields of health care and education in Northwest Ohio.
Mercy College of Northwest Ohio students with a minimum 3.0 grade point average may apply for the scholarship. The college's scholarship committee selects the recipient. Highest consideration is given to students who demonstrate commitment to the college's motto of compassion and caring and have the greatest financial need.
To apply, complete the scholarship application form. The scholarship can be used only for educational purposes. It will be presented at the fall Student Recognition Assembly.
