A scholarship was established in the memory of Frank and Clara Lenhart in recognition of their commitment to education and their ability to pass on their values to their children: seven Mercy nurses, two physicians, a laboratory technician, an X-ray technician and a farmer. The scholarship was established for students at Mercy College of Northwest Ohio to recognize nursing excellence and to help students in financial need.
The endowed scholarship has been made possible by the generosity of the Lenhart daughters and their families. The Lenhart Nurses are: Mrs. Betty Lenhart Schlembach '44 of Quincy, Illinois; Mrs. Rita (Rick) Lenhart Brown '47 of Defiance, Ohio; Mrs. June (Bill) Lenhart Small '50 of Defiance, Ohio; Mrs. Suzanne (William) Lenhart McIntyre '58 of Monroe, Michigan; Mrs. Nancy (Daniel) Lenhart Ducatt '60 of Defiance, Ohio; Joan (Tom) Lenhart '63 of Defiance, Ohio; and Mrs. Peggy (John) Lenhart Bennett '65 of Cincinnati, Ohio.
Mercy College of Northwest Ohio nursing students with a minimum 3.0 grade point average may apply for the scholarship.
The college's scholarship committee selects the recipient. Highest consideration is given to students who demonstrate commitment to the college's motto of compassion and caring and have the greatest financial need.
