The Mary Beth Hayward scholarship is named for a former member of the faculty of Mercy School of Nursing from 1966 to 1974, who later served as an Associate Professor and Director of the RN-to-BSN Program at the Medical College of Ohio until her death in 2004. Mrs. Hayward served the Nursing profession as President of the Ohio League for Nursing and President of the Northwest Ohio Nurses Association. She also volunteered her service to the community as President and Board member of the Kidney Foundation of Northwest Ohio, Board member of Hospice of Northwest Ohio and Secretary of the Board of Trustees of Sunset Retirement Community.
Mercy College students admitted to or enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Completion and Pre-licensure degree programs with at least a 3.0 grade point average may apply. Highest consideration is given to students who demonstrate commitment to Mercy values and also have the greatest financial need. The College's scholarship committee selects the recipient.
