Alumni Scholarship

Scholarship Description
The David S. McAlister Scholarship Fund was initiated in 1972 as the result of a contribution from the David S. McAlister Testimonial Committee. The fund is named in memory of Col. David S. McAlister, Citadel Class of 1924 and captain of The Citadel Baseball Team. Colonel McAlister served as an Assistant Professor, Registrar, Cadet Affairs Dean, Vice President for Student Activities, Faculty Athletic Representative to the Southern Conference and the National Collegiate Athletic Association, and Secretary-Treasurer of the Southern Conference. The Citadel's McAlister Field House is named in honor of Colonel McAlister. Scholarships are available to cadets who possess attributes that are in accord with the high standards of The Citadel. Preference is given to athletes. The first award from this fund was made in 1975.
