Community Service Scholarship

Scholarship Description
La Salle University has a long-standing commitment to service in the community. Each year, La Salle awards $10,000 scholarships to students who are involved in community service and who commit themselves to continued involvement throughout their undergraduate careers. Eligibility: Full-time students with demonstrated interest in and commitment to community service may apply for a La Salle University Community Service Scholarship. Candidates must also commit themselves to continued involvement (10 hours per week in an active and/or leadership role in community service work on or off campus). In addition to an on-going commitment to community service, standardized test scores, class rank and GPA will be considered by the committee in the final selection of Scholars. Requirements: These scholarships will cover half-tuition and tuition-related fees for the regular academic year and are renewable each year if the recipient maintains a 2.5 cumulative grade point average and continued community service involvement. Procedures: Scholarship application materials will be sent directly to each student requesting them. In addition to the completed application for admission to La Salle, each candidate must submit the following credentials for the review of the selection committee: a completed Community Service Scholarship application ,an essay of approximately 500 words on a selected topic, and two letters of recommendation from high school teachers or counselors, moderators, community service supervisors, or individuals of choice, which specifically address and make reference to the candidate's involvement in community service. Application materials are to be submitted no later than January 15.
