Beryl B. Haughton Jackson Endowed Fund for Graduate Students to Study Women’s Health

Scholarship Description
1.Resource fund for graduate students. 2. Selection of qualified candidate shall be made by a committee of faculty at the School of Nursing as determined by the Dean using the following criteria. For as long as she is willing and able, Beryl B. Haughton Jackson or her designee may consult with the committee in making the final selection from the qualified candidates presented. 3. All candidates shall have successfully completed their first year of graduate studies. 4. All candidates shall have a minimum of 3.5 QPA. 5. Preference shall be given to students who are under-represented, either economically or educationally. 6. Preference shall also be given to a candidate who is a member of under-represented populations within the School of Nursing. 7. All candidates shall have their intent to pursue a career enhancing the study of women’s health with underserved populations after graduation. 8. One student may be selected each academic year. 9. Award may be repeated to a particularly worthy applicant. School of Nursing Criteria/Selection/ Frequency: 1. Successful completion of at least 20 graduate credits (in first year), with a cumulative QPA of 3.5 or higher. 2. Evidence of financial need. 3. CV. 4. Essay describing how the applicant sees herself/himself contributing to the enhancement of the study of women’s health within underserved populations after graduation, including a statement of intent to pursue a career enhancing women’s health. 5. One student per year & it may be repeated to a worthy candidate.
