John M. Bayne Memorial Scholarship

Scholarship Description
The John M. Bayne Memorial Scholarship is awarded each year to one full-time student. Scholarship amount varies according to available funds. To be eligible, freshman or sophomore students must have graduated in the top 50 percent of their high school class and must maintain a 2.75 grade point average while attending college. To apply, students should request and complete a scholarship application. The scholarship was established by Ruby Popejoy Bayne in honor of her husband, John M. Bayne, who was a veteran of World War II and a retired professor of psychology and sociology at Howard College and Panola College. He was a graduate of Butler University and a staunch supporter of the mission of community colleges.
