The Food Services Student Leadership Program Scholarship
Scholarship Description
The BYUH Food Services Department conducts a Student Leadership Program where Food Services Managers select student supervisors to participate in a course to receive current, viable management training, not only for their current job responsibilities, but also for their future careers. Leadership skills and work performance are strongly considered to qualify a student supervisor for the program.
As program participants, the student supervisors have the privilege to apply for one of four $500 educational scholarships (two awarded for Winter Semester and two awarded for Fall Semester). These funds may be used for school expenses, such as tuition, fees, room and board, and/or books. Listed below is the current information and requirements for this scholarship.
Scholarship Requirements:
* Minimum CGPA: 2.5
* Major: Business or Hospitality Industry preferred but not required
* Current employee of Food Services
* Enrolled in Food Service Student Leadership Program for scholarship semester/term or completed Food Service Student Leadership Program.
* Freshman, Sophomore and/or Junior (Seniors currently employed in Food Services at Supervisory level for minimum two semesters or more)
* Eligible for one scholarship per academic year only
* Enrolled at BYU-Hawaii for 12 credit hours per semester (6 credits per term)
* Abide by the Honor Code of the University.
Application Information:
Submit a typewritten application packet to Food Service Office on or before the deadline. The packet includes the following:
* Personal Information Sheet.
* Three letters of recommendation using forms provided; one letter must be from a Business and/or Hospitality Industry Faculty.
* A personal essay with no more than 500 words. Essay must include description of your career aspirations, involvement in extracurricular activities, community service and leadership experiences. Please use a minimum font of 12 points and double-spaced. Applicants name and date must appear on top of sheet.
