Established in 1991 by the Corella and Bertram F. Bonner Foundation, Inc., of Princeton, New Jersey, the Bonner Scholars Program is the premier service scholarship program at Emory & Henry College. The Bonner Program offers 80 scholarships annually in return for eight hours of direct community service and two hours of reflection and participation in enrichment events per week. The breakdown of the scholarship over a four-year period is as follows:

In addition to the $16,400 Bonner Scholarship, Emory & Henry agrees to meet 100% of a student's financial need through other scholarships, grants and loans. First-year students with a ranking in the upper 40 percent of their high school graduating class and an expected family contribution of $4,500 or less are eligible to apply to participate in the Bonner Scholars Program. Applications may be obtained from the Office of Admissions or the Appalachian Center for Community Service. Rising seniors may also earn a $500 stipend during their third summer.
