Otto and Diana Guardado Scholarship

Scholarship Description
The Otto and Diana Guardado Scholarship will award two (2) $500.00 scholarships to Latino/a freshman or incoming college transfers. The scholarship will be awarded to a student pursing a major in English, Finance, Economics or Business. Recipients are required to participate in “Las Aguilas” Scholars Program and be enrolled in the Chicano/Latino Orientation Course during Fall quarter 2008.Scholarship awards will be made on the basis of: Personal Statement Applicants should highlight his or her interest in the scholarship and a brief statement about their personal background and career goals Essay Applicant must submit an essay detailing a difficult instance or period their life and the challenges faced, including the actions taken to address the obstacles. The typed essay should be a minimum of 500 words, in English. Letter of Recommendation Applicants need to submit one letter of recommendation (English or Spanish) from their parent, guardian, or mentor. Applicants need two letters of recommendation (English only) from business people (i.e. small business owner, manager, executive entrepreneur).
