The Frances “Jo” Leary Nursing Endowment funds The Frances “Jo” Leary Nursing Scholarship, which is awarded annually to two students, one to a freshman and another to a sophomore in the college’s nursing program. Frances Leary, a retired nurse, wanted to make it easier for students to pursue nursing careers by providing some type of financial assistance that would let them complete their educations. She established this scholarship with the guidance that preference be given to nontraditional students, such as single parents and physically challenged individuals, who can qualify for the demands of a nursing career. The total of the scholarship is $3,500 for the academic year, to be awarded in thirds for each of the fall, winter, and spring quarters in the year in which a student qualifies.
