Scholarship Overview
This essay contest is for high school freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors who are attending a public, private, alternative, or parochial school, or a home study program. To apply for this scholarship applicants must submit a 1,500-word essay addressing the topic, "Is my country proud of me?" Essays will be evaluated on the following criteria: creativity, theme development, clarity of ideas, and mechanics (grammar, spelling, punctuation, sentence structure, etc.). It is recommended that applicants read the guidelines very carefully, as any entries that do not conform (for example, an essay that is 1,499 words instead of 1,500 words or more) will be disqualified. Applicants must be US citizens who are currently studying in the United States or at an American military school outside of the country. Previous $5,000 scholarship recipients are not eligible.
