Scholarship Overview
This scholarship is for students of African-American heritage who reside in the six-county Kansas City metropolitan area. To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must fall into one of the following categories: (1) graduating high school seniors seeking to continue education through a two- or four-year college and/or technical school; (2) current college students pursuing a degree; or (3) adults seeking educational or career advancement through an accredited certification program. The 2012-2013 scholarships will give priority to students pursuing education in the fields of healthcare, education, or youth development. Consideration will be given to students' academic and civic performance, community service record, and essay quality. Scholarship recipients will be expected to perform eight hours of community service per quarter for one year.
