This scholarship is for high school seniors and college students who are residents of Kosciusko County, Indiana. To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must demonstrate financial need. First preference will be given to applicants pursuing education and/or training to become a diesel mechanic, auto mechanic, motorcycle mechanic, small engine mechanic, and/or auto-repair service manager. Second preference will be given to applicants pursuing education and/or training in any trade, such as HVAC, carpentry, or plumbing, and/or to improve and update skills with respect to such jobs. Third preference will be given to applicants pursuing job retraining and/or new or different skills necessitated by loss of the individual’s job as a result of merger or downsizing at the individual’s former employer. Fourth preference will be given to applicants seeking to enter the job market or applicants seeking to enter the job market after a sustained period of lack of significant full-time employment due to health reasons, the raising of the applicant’s child or children, and/or the care of an aged or ill relative. Fifth preference will be given to applicants pursuing any other non-traditional, reasonable education leading to a recognized degree or certificate of completion. Sixth preference will be given to applicants pursuing traditional college or university education.
