These scholarships are for graduating high school seniors from Los Angeles County, California. To qualify for these scholarships, applicants must demonstrate high levels of ethical behavior, academic success, and a commitment to community service. Awards are given in the following areas: responsibility (Morris Koretz Scholarship for Community Service), education (Derek Gordon Scholarship for maintaining a 3.5 GPA throughout high school), and morality (Lloyd Gold Scholarship for "doing the right thing" including maintaining high values and ethics). To apply for these scholarships, applicants must write a two- or three-page essay addressing the question: "What have you done in the past and what will you do in the future to help develop a responsible educated and moral society?"
