Scholarship Overview
This scholarship is for students who are graduates of Maine high schools or homeschooled in a Maine community during their last year of secondary education. To qualify for this scholarship, applicants be majoring in print or broadcast journalism, or a reasonably related field. Applicants must attend either an undergraduate program, including a trade school or technical institute program, or a graduate program at an accredited post-secondary educational institution in the United States. Award consideration will be based on: evidence of excellence in academic performance; evidence of applicants' serious commitment to journalism, as demonstrated by work on campus, publications/media, area broadcast stations, summer jobs/internships, or other significant journalistic endeavors, paid or unpaid; and evidence of financial need. To apply for this scholarship, applicants must include three samples of recent, published work related to journalism; and complete a professional story written in AP style based on a given writing exercise prompt.
