Scholarship Overview
This scholarship is for African American or Hispanic students who are seeking a teaching certification; and for any student (minority or non-minority) seeking Special Education teaching certification or Occupational or Physical Therapy certification. To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must be eligible US citizens or permanent residents, residents of Indiana, and admitted to or currently attending an eligible college full-time to qualify for this scholarship. Applicants must be pursuing or intend to pursue a teaching career or Occupational/Physical Therapy career in Indiana. Applicants must complete and file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), not be in default on a state or federally-funded student loans, and meet all minimum criteria established by SSACI. Winners of this scholarship must agree to pursue a program that leads to either a teaching or Occupational or Physical Therapy certification; complete the certification program within six years from when the first scholarship is received; and teach on a full-time basis in an accredited Indiana school, or practice Occupational or Physical Therapy for three out of the first five years of certification.
