This scholarship is for who residents of Knox, Waldo, or Washington County, Maine, who, by circumstance or design, are on a “road less traveled” and are seeking traditional or non-traditional educational experiences that will change their lives and the lives of people around them. Applicants must have encountered circumstances that required uncommon tenacity, focus, hope, and humor, and/or have plans to pursue a meaningful life change that requires additional education. To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must be age 18 years or older and be able to: demonstrate a passion for learning, whether in a traditional classroom setting or in a less structured environment; demonstrate uncommon tenacity, focus, hope, and humor by sharing a portion of their life story; explain their goal and plans (academic and financial) to achieve it; and demonstrate a long-term commitment to Maine and involvement in its communities.
