This scholarship is for members in good standing of the State of Maryland International Reading Association Council (SoMIRAC). To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must be accepted and enrolled at a graduate or post-graduate student at and accredited college or university or involved in a project that promotes literacy. Applicants must major in reading or a reading-related field such as English, or be conducting research or be participating in a literacy endeavor that benefits reading education. Applicants who are furthering their career must must have maintained a GPA of 3.0 as a graduate or post-graduate student. Finally, applicants must document participation in state or local reading council activities, as well as participation in community service or reading-related activities.
