Scholarship Overview
This grant program is for dependents and spouses of: California peace officers (Highway Patrol, marshals, sheriffs, police officers); Department of Corrections and California Youth Authority employees; and permanent/full-time firefighters employed by public entities who have been killed in the performance of duty or totally disabled as a result of an accident or injury. Applicants may be attending undergraduate, graduate, or professional schools. To apply for this scholarship, applicants must submit a copy of their 2012-2013 Student Aid Report (SAR); a copy of their birth certificate (not required for spouse); the death certificate of the parent/spouse and documentation showing that the death, accident, or injury occurred in the line of duty; and a copy of the findings of the Worker's Compensation Appeals Board or any other evidence that the fatality or disabling accident was compensable under Division 4 or 4.5 of the Labor Code. Applications are accepted throughout the academic year.
