This scholarship is for college students who will be college juniors, seniors, or graduate students in the 2013/14 academic year. To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must be pursuing a career in journalism. Applicants also must have a connection to the Sacramento region in California. There are three ways to meet this criteria - applicants only need to meet ONE of the following categories in order to qualify: a. students from the Sacramento region; b. students enrolled in a Sacramento region college or university; or c. students who can show a demonstrated interest in covering news of the Sacramento region. This can include clips of state political coverage, or any issue that you believe ties into the region. Please explain in the cover letter. Scholarships are awarded based on career promise, academic record, journalistic achievement, and economic need.
