This grant is for legal residents of South Carolina, who plan to attend a participating independent college in South Carolina. To qualify, incoming freshmen must graduate in the upper 75% of their high school class or score at least 900 (math and Critical Reading sections only) on the SAT, or at least 19 composite on the ACT, or graduate from a South Carolina high school with a final high school GPA of 2.0 or higher. Upperclassmen are required to be enrolled full-time and successfully complete and pass 24 semester hours each year and meet their college's federal Satisfactory Academic Progress requirements. Grants are awarded based on financial need. The application for a South Carolina Tuition Grant is the Free Application for Student Federal Aid (FAFSA). Applicants must complete the FAFSA after January 1, and it must be received by the federal processor before June 30.
