Scholarship Overview
This scholarship is for Preferred Members of UPI and children or grandchildren of Preferred Members. To be a Preferred Member, one must have paid the membership fee and marketed at least one head of livestock at UPI. Preferred Membership will be based on 2012 records. To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must be graduating high school seniors enrolled in or students currently attending a college or technical school, studying a field related to agriculture. To apply for this scholarship, applicants must submit an essay on the topic, "Why I want a career in agriculture." Scholarships will be awarded based on applicants' background in agriculture, community involvement, and their response to the essay prompt. Two scholarships will be awarded in each of UPI's 16 districts (located in Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Missouri, and Ohio), one to a graduating high school senior and another to a current college student. Children and grandchildren of full-time UPI employees or the Board of Directors are not eligible for this award.
