These awards are for residents of New York state who were honorably discharged from the US Armed Forces and served in Vietnam, the Persian Gulf, or Afghanistan (see website for specific guidelines). To qualify for these awards, applicants must be US citizens or eligible noncitizens, hold a US high school diploma or GED, and be enrolled full- or part-time at an accredited college/university, vocational school, or graduate school in New York. Applicants must have applied for the Tuition Assistance Program for all undergraduate or graduate study. They must also not be in default on a federal or State made student loan or on any repayment of state awards.
