Scholarship Overview
This scholarship is for African-American students of Bamberg County, South Carolina, who are descendants of the enslaved families of Woodlands Plantation (Simms Place), located near the community of Midway. To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must be high school seniors or graduates planning to enter college in the fall term or students currently attending a college, university, or technical college (all college levels eligible). Applicants must have a minimum 2.5 GPA. Academic achievement, extracurricular activities, and personal statement will be considered when making selections. If there is no applicant available who is a descendant of enslaved families of Woodlands Plantation, a student in Bamberg County that meets all of the remaining criteria will be eligible for the award.
