Alabama State University is an HBCU situated in Montgomery, AL. The public university was founded by nine former slaves and serves as a member of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund. The most popular majors for undergraduates are criminal justice, communications, and rehabilitation and therapy. The school’s marching band, “The Mighty Marching Hornets” has competed several times in the Honda Battle of the Bands and starred in a documentary series called Bama State Style.
