Allen University is a private HBCU founded in 1870 by ministers of the African Methodist Episcopal Church and located in Columbia, South Carolina. The school provides a liberal arts and professionally-focused education centered around Christianity. The campus auditorium was home to the original meeting that led to the Brown vs. the Board of Education Supreme Court case. Part of the campus is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
