Arrupe College Majors

A.A. Arts and Humanities

When you complete the 61 required credit hours of the Arrupe program, you'll receive an associate's degree in one of three concentrations: Arts and Humanities, Social and Behavioral Sciences, or Business. You must complete 37 hours of general education core requirements; 15 hours of electives; and nine hours of Arrupe College mission-related core requirements. (See the course catalog for a complete list of classes.) Students who complete the AA in Arts and Humanities may go on to complete a bachelor's degree in programs such as English, history, or communication at a four-year institution.

Outcomes for the Associate of Arts Degree in Arts and Humanities:

  • For English pre-majors, competency and depth in interpreting the themes and content presented in American and British literature courses.
  • For History pre-majors, competency and depth in interpreting the themes and content presented in Western Civilization and US History courses.
  • For Communication pre-majors, competency and depth in interpreting the themes and content in introductory and media courses.

A.A. Business

A.A. Social and Behavioral Sciences

Students who complete the AA in Social and Behavioral Sciences may go on to complete a bachelor's degree in programs such as criminal justice, political science, or psychology at a four-year institution.

Outcomes for the Associate of Arts Degree in Social and Behavioral Sciences:

  • For Criminal Justice pre-majors, competency and depth in understanding and interpreting the subject matter presented in introductory and corrections courses.
  • For Political Science pre-majors, competency and depth in understanding and interpreting the subject matter presented in introductory and international relations courses.
  • For Psychology pre-majors, competency and depth in understanding and interpreting the subject matter presented in general, social, and abnormal psychology courses.
