Am learning a lot
I'm in the engineering program and I am learning tons about software and how computers work. I highly recommend Auburn to anyone who is looking for an engineering school.
Am enjoying being here
I love the campus and everyone is so friendly and helpful. The dormlife is cool. I made about 10 new friends just from the dorms.
Bang for the buck
I'm out of state so its rather expensive for me, but with everything they offer its really great. The new student union has a lot in it and there is plenty of free tutoring if you get stuck on something.
Tips for prospective students
If you are out of state, definitly try for a ton of scholarships. The university didn't give me any scholarships but I'm enjoying my time in Auburn just the same.
Great for these types of students
Auburn is great for students who like classrooms with about 50 people in the classes. The freshman classes have a lot more people than some of the more advanced and selective classes. My physics I class probably had 300-400 people in that classroom and my physics II class probably had 50 people so it just varies from class to class.

Going to school at Auburn has taught me so much. And I am not just talking about what I learned in the classroom. I have received the whole college experience here and have learned so much from just my first year here.

Auburn is simply the best college available. The university is what spawned the city of Auburn, AL. That shows the impact the university has had. I have had the absolute best time in such a little town. The football is amazing, the people are great, and the view is magnificent. I could not imagine myself anywhere else.
Bang for the buck
I am paying out of state tuition. So from my angle it is a bit pricey. However, that is what I get for going out of my state for college. The instate price is very manageable and is completely worth it. You will not find a better place to spend your integral four (or more) years at college, than at Auburn University.
Tips for prospective students
You should definitely look around. Never just choose one college and not have backups. However, if you are looking towards Auburn, definitely visit the campus. Take a tour. The town is wonderful and any pictures don't even do it justice. Make sure you apply as early as possible because there are a lot of eager people wanting to get in.
Great for these types of students
Everyone.
I have not met one person who was unhappy to be in Auburn, AL. It is a great place and it will grow on you very fast. Auburn is a great home for anyone looking to further their education and have a blast while doing it. War Eagle!

This is the place to be if you enjoy classes that are challenging and teach you things that will actually be used in the real world. The teachers help in anyway they can, they want us to enjoy learning.
Am enjoying being here
The campus is beautiful, and the atmosphere is amazing. everyone is kind and helpful. You dont have the uptight dont bother me attitude from the professors and other faculty, everyone gets along and its a fun place to be.
Bang for the buck
As is with all universities tuition is a little steep, but with all the free resources available its worth the price. Plus you get professors that know what they are doing and enjoy teaching.
Tips for prospective students
Pay attention to your classes, this is a fun place to be and has a relaxed atmosphere but if you fall behind in class its tough to catch back up.

The first day you begin your classes at Auburn you immediately start learning—not a second is wasted, and that's the good thing. Many of the professors are tough, but hey. That's college =) The professors care deeply about their students' success, but you have to make yourself available to show that you care just as much.

The minute you step on the exploding Haley concourse you're greeted by hundreds of other students from different areas and different beliefs. Three things that were stressed by the Assistant Head Coach/Wide Receivers Coach of the Auburn Tigers were Faith, Family, and Football. Though it may be that I have a bias, these are some of the nicest fans you will ever meet. I'm in the band and I've received comments from opposing team's fans that we're some of the best they've ever had in their stadium; moreover, some were ashamed of their own team's fans around them. There's a reason that we're called The Loveliest Village on the Plains. It's a great school and an even better community.
Bang for the buck
Let's be honest: It's expensive for an out-of-state student. I'm not gifted by any stretch of the imagination, so I have to work hard. I didn't receive many scholarships so I'm on grants and loans right now. 30,000 some-odd dollars is a big hurdle, but it's surely worth it.
Tips for prospective students
There is a lot that I could say about this school, but nothing would capture what it's truly all about unless you experience it yourself. Therefore I'll just say work hard, study a little everyday. Put yourself out there when you get here, find something to join. We have over 300 student organizations, I promise there is SOMETHING for everyone to be a part of. With 50 minute classes every other day, it's sometimes hard to meet people, depending on the class setting. The best memories you'll take away from Auburn are the ones that you've made with people that share some of the same interests as you. Go to at least one football game (even if you don't like sports. the atmosphere of Jordan-Hare is mind blowing.) Walk around campus, just because. Believe in Auburn and Love It! (George Petrie, the first Auburn Tigers head coach)

Students that don't mind large lectures. Your science classes and some history lectures have large numbers of people, but other classes such as foreign languages and English have numbers of 30 and below. Also, students that are ready to work. This is no place to slack, because the minute you do, you're asking for trouble. You have your Grade Adjustment Policy options only 3 times in your college career, so use wisely (but really, it'll be more gratifying if you don't use it at all.) Really, Auburn is great for just about anyone. I've yet to meet anyone that isn't happy here. I've met students who are fans of that other school in Alabama, but they chose to come here because they have the bigger opportunity. I'm not knocking U of A. I don't know the place, but I know I'm happy with what I have here.

Will learn a lot
Just walking around this place, you know it's no place for dummies.
Will enjoy being here
Beautiful campus, tons of great restraunts nearby, lots of things to help you out like huge public libraries, designated quiet places and even free tutoring! Besides that, the people are great! Everyone is always cheerful and really makes you feel like part of the family. :)

Auburn is definitely a highly academic school. Just because Auburn is in Alabama does not mean that it is by any means easy. It was actually just ranked as one of the hardest grading colleges in the nation. This is not a place for slackers. Be ready to attend classes, go to study groups, and study hard in order to excel.
Am enjoying being here
It's hard to arrive on campus and not to fall in love with the feel of this college town. Though Auburn is strong it academics, it is still easy to have social life. Football games are indescribable. There are countless organizations to become involved with from SGA to a water skiing team. Greek life is also quite prominent on campus with a third of the student body being in either a frat or sorority. If Greek life isn't for you, it is not hard to avoid. Downtown also lights up at night from the bars (more like small clubs). They're a fun place to go socialize and dance. It's hard to find a quite moment at Auburn (well for me at least, I like staying busy). It really is an amazing college experience.
Bang for the buck
I'm an out of state student, so my tuition is pretty high. There are plenty of financial aid and scholarships offered through Auburn to help out. Instate is really low and probably an amazing bang for your buck. I would visit campus and ask as many questions as you can think of before you commit. You can also find many great scholarships offered by Cappex and other similar sites.
Tips for prospective students
Visit campus in the fall or spring to really get the feel of what Auburn is like. You can even sit in on classes if you ask someone you know or even the Student Recruiters (tour guides). If you're coming from out of state, Greek life may be the perfect way to meet people (that's a main reason why I did it). If it's not right for you, no worries there are also many other ways to meet people. These are some tips specifically if you are going to Auburn:

1) Get your lunch right before classes get out so you don't have to wait in long lines (espceially at Salsaritas or ABP)
2) If you get season football tickets, that's great! If not, a majority of your fellow freshman friends will also have half season so you can still tailgate or watch it on TV
3) It is a 10 minute walk from Terrell to Haley
4) If you are required to move your car during football season, don't wait till Friday. There are usually avaliable spots in RO on Wednesday or Thursday.
5) Don't spend all your meal plan in the first two months.
6) Every drink and food item in the stadium is $4 so bring money to the games, and your meal plan won't cover it
7) Studying for tests in high school is not like studying in college. If you feel that you need tutoring early on, go for it!
8) Be careful where you park and know the parking rules. You cannot park in RH, RW, or RQ on weekends.
9) Get involved! :) There are over 300 organizations on campus! Or start your own!
10) Sororities have their chapters on Tuesday and Wednesay night so Village Dining is very crowded for dinner!
11) If you are eating on campus dinner on Friday or Saturday night, eat early because places close early!
12) If you are living in the dorms, bring your laundry home to wash if you can, the machines are expensive
13) Make a friend in each of your classes, you may not end up best friends but you can help each other out
14) If you can do it, take a foreign language! It is very fun! :)
15) Get to football games when the gates open...

People who like the South and are studious and social. There are also a ton of intramural sports, if you're athletic. If you've never been to the South before, come and visit! It just may surprise you :)

Every class I have taken at Auburn has taught me something. Of course, I've learned more about the particular subject, but I've learned life lessons as well. My English professor this semester taught me that If something is deep and meaningful to you, it doesn't matter what everyone else thinks about it. My Italian professor taught me that you can't always follow the rules. My Auburn Experience professor taught me more about Auburn than anyone else. I'm learning how to meet people and deal with people that are different from me, and I'm learning how to live on my own. I cannot list everything that I've learned from just my first semester at Auburn.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE being at Auburn. I am heavily involved in the Christian Student Center, and I have made so many close friends through that campus ministry. I've already met people that I know I'll stay in touch with after my Auburn years. I participate in intramural sports like volleyball and flag football, which are good ways to meet people on campus and stay active. Living in the dorms (at least for freshman year) has also helped me meet people and get to know campus better.
Bang for the buck
I believe Auburn is worth every penny. I was awarded a scholarship, but I still had to take out student loans. It's worth it, because Auburn is incredible.
Tips for prospective students
Just smile. Everyone at Auburn is nice. Don't be afraid of your professors or your suitemates. Make the most of EVERYTHING and go to as many home football games as possible.
Great for these types of students
Everyone can find his or her place in the Auburn family. I'm serious.

I am involved in the Honors College here, and while the Honors classes are a bit difficult, it is worth the perks. I was able to register for classes 3 weeks earlier than other freshmen. Auburn offers a wide variety of classes that are very interesting to take. Though I am majoring in Business, I am taking some of the courses in other topics that I am interested in.

It was quite a culture shock to come down to the deep South, but I really enjoy it. At first it may be a little overwhelming, especially if you decide not to do Greek Life. However, there are so many clubs to get involved with! No matter who you are, you will be able to find an organization to get involved with here!
Bang for the buck
Auburn gives out a lot of money for Merit Scholarships each year. I believe you only need a 28 ACT and a 3.5 GPA, and you are eligible for a scholarship! For out of state students Auburn is pretty expensive, but in state I believe is next to nothing!
Tips for prospective students
Apply early! They have rolling decision for students who apply early so you don't have to wait for an answer.
If you have the credentials, apply for the Honors College! Early registration is amazing.
Get involved! Then you can meet people with the same interest as you.
When you need a roommate, check out URoomSurf.com! This is where I found my roommate, and we worked out great!

The academics are good. Some of the classes are tougher than others, but overall you do get an education.

I hate it here. If you want a place filled with sororities, fraternities, football, drinking, and closed minded people, go ahead. Nothing matters but football. The only topics I've heard talked about have been, clothing, parties, and football. If you're a minority student. Don't even bother. I am mixed (White, Black, and Native American) and it never occurred to me that people would look at me differently until now.
People here are all alike. Skinny, white, preppy, with Nike shorts and a sorority shirt for the girls, and suit and tie or whatever their fraternity demands for the guys. There is no free thinking. There is no creativity. There is no art.

I'm planning on leaving. This place is NOT for me.
Bang for the buck
You do receive a ton of rewards for your money. The tiger transit is very nice, and the tutoring services are great.

Many times you'll see something and people will say 'Oh, it's covered in your tuition'.
Great for these types of students
You may want to think twice if you come from a smaller (particularly close knit) school. You can make it here, it all depends on your preference.

I would say a rule of thumb is if you like football and parties most nights (but can do your work, too) then you should be fine.

Non-party people, particularly those that like humanities as well, find another school

I found Auburn to be challeging but fun. You will not make it through school there without learning a lot. The quality of content and teaching is great. I was a transfer student from a community college to Auburn and found that the quantity and quality of material was way better at Auburn then where I had been previously. If you are taking sciences there make sure you are ready for some challenging labs!
Am enjoying being here
I find one of the key factors in enjoying college is making great friends. Auburn has so many different opportunities and organizations for you to get involved with it makes it really easy to find students with similar likes and dislikes. I really like the layout of the campus, it's not very complicated and the student center is in the middle of campus which makes it easy to meet people for a meal or to study. The nice thing about Auburn is whether you are a hard core partier or a book worm you will fit in and find friends. The weather is really nice (minus July and August) and the college is very pretty and clean. Over all I have had lots of fun at school.
Bang for the buck
Auburn is by far the best bang for your buck! I was offered scholarships to a few other schools and Auburn was still cheaper. You get an amazing education for a small college price. Auburn has raised tuition since a started school but the university has also risen in the rankings both over all and individual programs.
Tips for prospective students
Make sure you live on campus the first year. I found that is was really helpful to get to know people and to learn the campus layout. Talk to your proffessors! Most of them are REALLY nice and rather bored during their office hours and would love to talk to you. Talk to older students in your major, they can help you a lot. Make sure you have rain gear! It rain randomly in Auburn all the time but the sunsets are awesome.
Great for these types of students
Auburn is a very well rounded college but it is mostly noted for its engineering school, nursing school, business school, and fashion and merchandising (majors). I have found that there is a great abundance of campus ministries and for this reason it is a very Christian friendly campus.
