Am learning a lot
I have been learning a lot in my speech class, because I haven't had a speech class since the 8th grade. My teacher, Michelle Syltie, is fun and helpful in everything. However, my government class with Charles Miles is more of a repeat of all of my AP high school history classes than anything else.
Am enjoying being here
I am excited to wake up every Tuesday and Thursday to go to my speech class. The class involves activities and debates that excite every student. My government class, however, makes me want to fall asleep.
Bang for the buck
I am extremely excited that my dad was able to my tuition for my two classes and I am living on my own, all without loans, grants, or any other financial help. Having lower tuition definitely caters to my lifestyle.
Tips for prospective students
Don't forget you ARE going to be at a community college. The social life is the pits. But the learning enviroment is great. Everyone is there for the degree and wants to learn.
Great for these types of students
Great for students who are looking for cheap, but quality education, parents, kids on their own, or anyone who loves to save money and enjoy Austin!

Am learning a lot
For the price this school has some amazing teachers and learning facilities.
Am enjoying being here
The campus is a 5 minute drive from my house and the experience has just been really positive.
Bang for the buck
My tuition for 11 hours last semester was $1000. I learned so much. It is great for those of us who have to pay out of pocket and are on a limited budget.
Tips for prospective students
I would definitely suggest any students in the Austin area to go to ACC for the first two years before transferring to a 4 year college. You will save thousands of dollars in the long run.
Great for these types of students
Anyone who doesn't want to pay back student loans for the rest of their lives and wants a fun, growing experience with a patient and helpful college.

Although this college is in fact a community college, it's really not that bad of a school. It definitely depends on campuses, but that's the great part about it; you can choose whichever campus you want, find the teacher you want, and choose from a lot of classes. Also, this college revolves around convenience, be it by location, transportation, or even scheduling.
Tips for prospective students
For any prospective students, asking others about professors and classes is best instead of finding out in class. Also, toughing it out for some courses is what you need, and that can go for any college or university. I always find myself disappointed in foreign language courses when the class dissipates because they find it too hard; there are tutors and other classmates willing to help!
Academic Rigor
Again, it depends on the campus and the teachers when you're looking for a good, intense class where you learn what you're paying for. I've met some very unenthusiastic professors, as well as professors that have changed my thinking and my life all for the better. I might not have made the grades, but I have definitely changed my attitude thanks to many of these professors.
Dorm Life
Sadly, there is no Dorm Life, but there are many different apartment complexes surrounding each campus which is definitely convenient. I find that the community is definitely involved.
Food and Dining
Each campus has their own version of Joe's Cafe, and each one I've visited so far is very good. It's pricey, but some campuses you can't be picky since there sometimes aren't many other fast-food or dining places around. At the same time, some campuses are close to tons of different dining places! Again, the convenience of this college is extraordinary.
What to do for fun
There are many different activities, sports, and shows especially during the spring semesters. As well, the library is expansive and each campus has a lot of things to do off campus. Especially the Rio Grande campus, located near the heart of downtown Austin. 6th street is just a few blocks away, and offers many nightlife activities as well as access to other festivals and celebrations.
Bang for the buck
Especially if you live in district, you get more than what you pay for. Convenience is key, and that's what makes it worth the money you pay. Compared to university, these classes are extremely cheap, but still the same quality as such.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus
I am actually not aware of any traditions or such on campus.
Great for these types of students
This college is great for students of all types, and I have seen all those types in my classes. From lazy to driven; from young to old; these students can be fantastic and contribute to the life-changing experiences I have mentioned. This campus offers a wide variety of people a wide variety of classes.
Clubs and Activities
The student life is extremely active at the campuses I've been. Although most people don't have the time to sit and talk, they are always trying to get everyone involved and I find that wonderful. There are all sorts of clubs and activities at each campus, including sports and arts. They're open to all kinds of people and are very welcoming. I was upset that I had to attend this college at first, but after going here for a semester, everyone is ultimately in the same boat and you tend to form kinships especially in these clubs and activities.
Greek Life
No greek life that I'm aware of.
Campus Safety
It just all depends in what part of town you take your class. The North Ridge campus of North Austin is extremely safe and friendly, whereas the East-view campus, although very new, it is located in a very low-income area and has had many violent incidents. At the same time, the campus police are always around and available, and are willing to walk you to your car at night if you feel unsafe.

Am learning a lot
I am learning so much at ACC Cypress Creek. The teachers are very helpful and so willing to stop and explain if one does not understand.
Am enjoying being here
The small classes and beautiful scenery at the campus make it very pleasant to attend ACC Cypress Creek. It is a very comfortable environment and extremely easy to navigate. All of this makes college seem a little less intimidating especially for in-coming freshman.
Bang for the buck
I personally have to pay for school on my own as well as all my living expenses. Because of this I really appreciate the great prices ACC offers to its students, especially those living in district. It makes my life a lot easier and makes going to school more readily available to students like myself who are paying out of their own pocket.
Tips for prospective students
The best tip I can give is to sign up early for your classes! You're not the only one that is taking advantage of this great institution therefore the classes will go quickly; well the ones with the best times that is. Also, stay organized. Organizing all of your paperwork will be a big help to you. It will keep your payment deadlines, schedule, etc. much easier to keep track of and be a lot less stressful for you in the end. Finally, good luck and have fun in college!

ACC has been one of the most invigorating experiences of my life. I enjoy attending classes, listening to my professors and having one-on-one help. Here college is more than an education; it is a lifestyle of learning!
Tips for prospective students
Never stop learning. It is important to remember that college isn't all work and no play. ACC has several programs for students looking for clean and wholesome fun!
Academic Rigor
Just because ACC is a junior college doesn't mean that their programs are easy. Classes are smaller so learning here is simpler. There is more time for the professors to engage with the students. Academically, they are hard but not impossible.
Dorm Life
There are no dorms at ACC; however, apartments in Austin, Texas, aren't priced badly. The life within the classrooms have given me lifelong friends. I know that dorms are the same experience.
Food and Dining
ACC has on-campus dining. I would have to say is 5-star. They are fast, and the food is always delicious!
What to do for fun
Austin has several venues that college students enjoy. The college is always hosting an event or telling students how to find one. The events are always educational and helpful for classes.
Great for these types of students
ACC is great for students who want to dive directly into a workforce career. It gives students a degree for exactly what they want.
Campus Safety
There are police officers on campus as late as the students, faculty, and staff. I always feel safe on campus. I know they are there for a battery jump, safe walk, or any little concerns. The officers are always polite and kind.

i am attending austin community college to complete my basics, while i continue to work and save money to help my parents pay for my tuition and books. i have found it easy to get around and the classes are small, and getting to know the others students has allowed for great study groups.
Tips for prospective students
attend orientations, be prepared and take part in study groups whenever possible.
Academic Rigor
i think the academic rigor is perfect.
Food and Dining
there is plenty of food choices around all of their campuses.
What to do for fun
not really a college for activities. more to get use to the schedule life of college and get either basics or a associate's degree.
Great for these types of students
students, who aren't sure if they will like college or have to work to help pay for college, should start at least their basics here to get a good idea of what is expected.

It is your own personal choice how much knowledge you receive from your education. ACC professors and curriculum provide the opportunity for you to learn!
Am enjoying being here
I've always found the students, professors and administration to be friendly and attentive to my queries.
Bang for the buck
My opinion is quite biased on this point because I do receive veteran assistance, but I have looked at many colleges in the area and ACC offers affordable education. Now if we could only say that about textbook publishers ;)
Tips for prospective students
Visit with advisers, tour the campuses and register as soon as you possibly can!
Great for these types of students
Working mom's and dads (like me and my wife), students on a budget, students not quite yet sure what degree they want to seek.

ACC offers a very broad list of classes that any student can enjoy. Within each class there are many different teachers that have many different styles of teaching which create a wide variety of ways to learn at ACC.
Am enjoying being here
ACC is a low stress high success college. All campus' are located in convenient locations in Austin, and each campus has it's own area of focus. The buildings are clean, and the staff are friendly. Even your classmates are average people just like you who are easy to get along with.
Bang for the buck
ACC is very cheap and offers scholarships for people in need. I've never been happier with the bang for my buck than at ACC.
Tips for prospective students
If you haven't decided what you want to do, or where to go, then taking your core classes at ACC is a pretty good idea. While you think about what you want to do with your life, you can make steady progress towards that goal without even realizing it.
Great for these types of students
If your family can't afford to help you that much with college, ACC is a great deal. The credits at ACC transfer to most major universities, so it really is a great deal.
