Bakersfield College is a public community college with an open admissions policy. The institution houses the William M. Thomas Planetarium, a 36-foot dome with a Chronos star projector,  and the Levan Center, which focuses research to promote the humanities. BC provides the Umoja ASTEP program, the African-American Success Through Excellence and Persistence program, which provides attentive counselors to ensure degree attainment. They also welcome DACA students.

bakersfield college is a diverse school where most professors care about the students. the education level is good, and they are opening a writing center for helping students when writing papers. the campus is of a good size and there are many extracurricular activities for students; bakersfield college is a good school.

the college serves 15,000 students on the 153-acre main campus in northeast bakersfield, at the weill institute in downtown bakersfield, and at the delano center 35 miles north of bakersfield. classes are offered on a traditional 16-week semester calendar as well as in a variety of non-traditional scheduling options.
