waco may not be as large of a town as houston but it still has a lot to offer. common grounds and cafe capp are fun spots to grab a bite and hang out with friends without going far off campus. with the hot texas weather, a good place to cool down is the bsr cable park which is a water sports facility with a lazy river and huge water slides. lake waco is another place to cool off. if that's not your scene, there is also the dr. pepper museum, cameron park zoo, texas sports hall of fame, bear habitat.

There is a multitude of social clubs, intermural sports, academic clubs, etc that will surely interest anyone looking for extracurricular activities. Waco has some pretty nice attractions (Waco Zoo, Cameron Park, Farmers Market, Dr. Pepper Museum, etc) that can keep you occupied and content.

Waco has a ton of things to do such as the movies (only $5), Cameron park near the Brazos River, awesome shops in downtown, the Cameron Park Zoo, Katie's Custard, walks on the suspension bridge, it's fantastic! Baylor has a great theatre program, fabulous choir performances, and big events throughout the year with all-campus games and food for holidays.

ADVENTURE! Explore Waco, it's actually pretty great. Cameron Park is always fun, and Austin + Dallas are nearby.

Explore the restaurant scene. Kitok's, Vitek's, Cafe Capp... The suspension bridge and tortilla tossing make for a fun study break.

Waco is a small town. So, if you are looking for a plethora of cool places to relax and have fun, this isn't the place for you. Your choices are on campus, restaurants, shops, and movie theaters. There are plenty of events on campus that you can attend. First of all, a great way to start off your arrival at the University as an official freshman/transfer student is to participate in welcome week. I met wonderful people! I even gained a few friends (and making friends is an extremely important thing for you to do!)! As the semester goes on, Rush Week happens, homecoming is lively, the football games are fantastic (sic'em Bears!!! :D), basketball season begins towards the end of the semester, and student groups begin various projects. There are always seminars of various types to attend, and so many more things occur also. Fun is there, but, as a college student, there is a thin line between fun and trouble. Be wise in your choices of fun.
