Bluffton is the most friendly campus that I visited during my college search. Community is an important value and will make you feel at home. Bluffton is the right choice if you want a good home away from home.
Tips for prospective students
Bluffton offers a lot of opportunities for prospective students on campus. Prospectives can design their own visitation days, or attend a Bluffton University Discovery day. For those involved in athletics there are plenty of days designed for prospective students on game days. I recommend visiting the campus and doing an overnight.
Academic Rigor
Bluffton offers an honors program to those who meet the criteria. But the classes are generally challenging. But Bluffton offers study opportunities like a study session for each course before a test as well as mentors.
Dorm Life
There are pros and cons to Bluffton's dorm life. Each dorm rates differently. But the communities and opportunities are great. Each floor has to have a community event each month and each hall puts on events too. Each hall has their own set of washers and dryers that you do not have to pay for. Well it probably is included in tuition. Bluffton offers singles, doubles and triple dorm rooms. In all halls except one (Hirschy Annex which is a guys dorm) there are kitchenettes on each floor which is very useful. But some of the dorms could be updated.
Food and Dining
Bluffton University's main cafeteria is called The Commons which has many different food options. There is are two grills, a station that offers pasta and pizza, the mainline, the deli, an ice cream machine, salad bar and a variety of options for drinks like pop, milk, coffee and juice. The Commons also has the option of To Go Lunches for days when you want to eat in your dorm and do work or when you don't have much time in between classes. There is also Bob's place which is open after The Commons is closed and is open until 11pm. They have a variety of options but a favorite is their milkshakes. During the week there is meal exchange at bobs where you can use a meal swipe. Otherwise you would use your Beaver Bucks. The quantity of your Beaver Bucks depends on your meal plan.
What to do for fun
Bluffton has a good amount of things to do on campus. Each hall frequently has events going on like a pancake dinner or a campfire. As well as each floor hosts their own events too. But every two weeks on a Monday Marbeck Center Board hosts a themed bingo where students can win awesome prizes. Every Thursday one of the organizations on campus hosts the Thursday Night Spotlight. While every Friday Night Marbeck Center Board hosts Marbeck After Dark events. These are the most popular on campus and are awesome. From contracted events like comedians to Build-Your-Own-Aquarium, Movie Night, Giant Inflatable Game Night, these are the most fun. Bluffton is a small town so there is some fast food services but they aren't open late. When wanting to get off campus and do other things people head to Findley or Lima which are bigger and have movie theaters and shopping and other things. Or they head to Bowling Green and go to the clubs there. Bluffton has a bowling alley which is pretty cheap and people have a lot of fun at. Many times the university teams up with them and does Bowl-For-A-Buck events. There is also the Shannon Theater which shows movies for only $4. Which is awesome for college kids and its in walking distance.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus
It is a long tradition that when a couple gets engaged the man is thrown in Riley Creek and the woman is thrown in the shower. This has gone on for years. It is also said that if a couple kisses at Adam's Bridge at midnight they will be together forever.
Great for these types of students
Bluffton is great for students that value community.
Clubs and Activities
Bluffton offers a ton of different clubs. There are clubs for each type of major like the Nutrition club or the business leaders club. There are also many sports and intermurals. There is also Marbeck Center Board which plans a majority of events on campus. Bluffton also has a student lead newspaper and radio station. There are also religious organizations. Like Hall Chaplains with one on every floor, chapel committee, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and SERVE. There are also many different choirs and bands. There is even a dance club too.
Greek Life
Bluffton does not have Greek life.
Campus Safety
Bluffton is a safe campus. It is a dry campus which prevents a lot of things. But yet one can still find alcohol like on every campus. But with security guards around and the police driving through frequently one can feel safe.

Am learning a lot
I have learned so much just in my short time here at Bluffton. All the classes I have have taught me things that will help me with not only my major, but throughout my entire life. I will carry these learned skills forever. Most of the professors are just the best. I talk to most of mine outside of classes about really anything. They are such wonderful people. I am also learning time-management skills that I thought I had already, but I was obviously wrong. You will learn good things from any college, but at Bluffton, I feel like I am learning everything right.
Am enjoying being here
God definitely placed me here at Bluffton. It has been the most amazing experience for me. I have grown so much not only in my relationship with him, but just as a person in general. Since I've only spent one semester here, I can not wait to see all the amazing experiences I have in front of me!
Bang for the buck
I was not worried about price when I was looknig for colleges so that had no weight on my decision. It is kind of pricy here, but I think it is very, very much worth it! You can also get a campus job to help out with that cost and there are plenty of opportunities for scholarships if you look for them!
Tips for prospective students
You should definitely come for a visit and mot definitely an overnight visit because you get a better picture of how campus life actually is if you stay with a student. Get in touch with the admissions office and they will give you all the information you need and you can always ask for a student involved on campus with what you are interested in.
Great for these types of students
self-motivated
open-minded

Am learning a lot
Classes at Bluffton are both academically challenging and personally transformative. Bluffton students not only learn academic skills, but life lessons that transcend the walls of the classroom.
Am enjoying being here
As a transfer student from another four-year private university, I am greatly enjoying the unique educational experience Bluffton has to offer. The strong community on campus makes Bluffton not only a school, but a home.
Bang for the buck
What you get at Bluffton is more than an education-- it is an experience. Bluffton combines academic excellence and tight-knit community, and that is worth every penny. Scholarships for incoming freshmen are impressive, but scholarship offerings for high-achieving transfer students could be greatly improved.
Tips for prospective students
Visit campus while classes are in session to experience the sense of community at Bluffton. Visiting as a prospective transfer student, I was immediately welcomed as a member of the Bluffton family and I knew I had found my home!
Great for these types of students
Bluffton is a great fit for anyone interested in a small university shaped by Mennonite values such as peacemaking, community, and service.

Bluffton does have a high sticker price but through scholarships and grants the price is not bad.
