Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus safety is excellent. The campuses aren't too large, but even if they were, there are cops all over the place. There is a security office at each campus that is there to protect the students and you can have them on speed dial to come right to you.
Greek Life Again, this is a community college, and there are not too many options for Greek Life. There are, however, academic honors clubs like Phi Theta Cappa.
Clubs and Activities There's a good variety of clubs and activities that can suit student interests'. It's just important that you figure out when the deadline is to join the clubs and activities so that you're not too late.
Great for these types of students Great for students who like flexibility and to make their own schedules. There's many classes and teachers to choose from but they can fill up EXTREMELY fast! If you're interested in taking classes online, EFSC is the place to do it because they use a site that is not complex and teachers usually give you a week to get stuff done. Some teachers give more work than others, however.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There's not too much I can say about this.
Bang for the buck If you're doing dual enrollment, it's an excellent choice since the Brevard County School board pays for it. Otherwise, you may be spending anywhere from 200-600 dollars for just a couple classes, whether it be in summer, spring or fall. Financial services are available, though.
What to do for fun There are a ton of different clubs to join, whether academic or not. Some of the classes are fun too, depending upon what you're interested in.
Food and Dining I've personally never had it but have other friends who go there before or after their classes to get a drink or bite to eat. I must say, their food does smell delicious, so that can't be too bad.
Dorm Life Eastern Florida State College is a community college in Brevard County, with four different campuses' scattered throughout the county. Dorm life isn't really an option.
Academic Rigor It all depends upon your teacher. Some classes are more difficult than others and the amount of work given usually does depend on the teacher. It really depends on how you like to learn. Services are available if you need tutoring in a variety of subjects.
Tips for prospective students Prospective students, I would recommend that you work hard, first of all. I would also recommend that you use "Rate My Professor" to choose which professors you would like. Otherwise, you might get stuck with a difficult class that's hard to pass.
In three sentences Eastern Florida State College is a great school especially if you're a dual enrollment student or a student who likes taking classes online. They allow for good flexibility and have an assortment of classes to choose from. The only setback is that sometimes the guidance counselors don't know what they're talking about.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Great for students looking to get their A.A. and then transfer to a university! Great for older students, too. There's never an age limit to getting an education.
Bang for the buck You truly get your money's worth, and more, here. Put your full effort into the classes and you will see it was a great investment.
What to do for fun There's many clubs and activities to get involved in. The pavilion at the Melbourne campus always has an event going on.
Food and Dining There are several places to eat on campus, and many places nearby!
Dorm Life You get to live at home, and save money!
Academic Rigor Course rigor can vary, depending on the level of courses you take.
Tips for prospective students Register for classes early! It may be a smaller school, but that means less room in each class. If you want the best times for your schedule make registration a priority.
In three sentences This is a great place to begin and end your education! The wide range of classes available, different campuses, and small class sizes are a huge plus. It truly is a great investment here.

Categories Comments Campus Safety in my entire time in the campus there was one violence act of the sort that reached my years and that wasn't even in the campus grounds so I can guarantee its safety
Great for these types of students Great for students who are diligent and interested in all sorts of activities
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus None that I know of.
Bang for the buck They have decent scholorships so one should apply for those but if not, the tuition costs can be quite expensive.
What to do for fun One can do a lot of activities such as joining a club or the like to experience a thrill and physical activities. If one is not athletic, they do have other clubs such as the chess club and the biology club so one does not need to rely on physical skills. And if one does not enjoy or can't be in clubs, you can always stay in the library to read books and surf the web in the computers.
Food and Dining They provide fast foods as well as ice creams and drinks inside the campus which is delicious but also expensive
Dorm Life There is no dorm in this college but it isn't so bad
Academic Rigor While it may give variety of homeworks, the class is still fun. also, The amount and the difficulty can depend on what teacher you have so be sure to choose well. Also, coming from my personal experience, don't pick a class that you don't think it is right for you as you can have a terrible time.
Tips for prospective students Make sure one apply for scholorships before they get out of highschool if doable or as soon as possible as it can help big to save funds. Also, do pick a class early as it can be important to find the right and easygoing teacher for you as well as the subject you want to study on. And if in highschool, one should apply before graduating as the costs is completely free, and one should get credits as much as they can.
In three sentences The school offers variety of classes and majors to choose from so that one can purse their dream jobs. You can also apply for additional electives to get additional knowledge which always helps. Also, if one picks the right teachers, one can have plenty of fun while taking lessons at the same time and can be a blast.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Security is always on campus. And they will walk you to your car if you don't feel safe enough. They're just a phone call away, and answer the phone within the first two rings.
Greek Life I don't believe there are any sororities. At least none that I'm aware of.
Clubs and Activities Tons of different clubs and activities posted all over. From art club to a club about exercise! There's pretty much everything to do!
Great for these types of students Students that want to stay close to home or near the beach. And if you're not quite sure what you want to do for a career yet, this is a great place!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus None that I'm aware of.
Bang for the buck I was able to take 5 classes for around $2,500 last semester. Not having anything else to compare to, I think it's a great price!
What to do for fun The beach isn't too far from campus, and there a few movie theaters and shopping centers around. As well as the Brevard Zoo, which is about ten minutes north of the Melbourne Campus.
Food and Dining Personally, I think the food is great! There are a few restaurants in a five mile radius, and there is a chick-fil-a and ice cream place on campus! And there are more restaurants all around town!
Dorm Life It was a community college last year, so there aren't any dorms that I'm aware of. But I like it because it's close to home!
Academic Rigor Some teachers can be lazy and don't really explain things, while other teachers love their job. There are many teachers that get excited about teaching and make learning fun, while keeping it challenging!
Tips for prospective students Take the general classes first: communications, math, science, ect. and then move onto electives. Take classes that you're already interested in to try and find out what you want to do for a career!
In three sentences EFSC is a great place to go to find out what you want to do.The staff is friendly and helpful, and you learn quite a bit! It's also a good place close to home!

Categories Comments What to do for fun There are very many recreational sports and the student involvement is amazing on campus.
Food and Dining There is only one little cafe area and it is not open for those who have to take night classes.
Dorm Life The campus I attend does not offer dorms.
Academic Rigor The admissions and advising staff are very help, I can always count on them to point me into the right direction.
Tips for prospective students I would definitely look into all the different campus' that there are.
In three sentences With the multiple different campus' I have only been to 1 which is rather small. The staff is very friendly and offer lots of help but the class selection is slim. The days available as well as he times sometimes make it hard for people who have jobs or families.

Categories Comments Food and Dining I haven't really eaten in the dining room yet, because for the longest time, I didn't even know there was one. The stated selling chick fil a two times a week and they just opened a coffee and ice cream shop. Other than that, there are vending machines all over the place in each building, and they have an okay selection of food in the bookstore.
Dorm Life They really don't have dorms, since it is really more of a community college.
Tips for prospective students Wait to get your textbooks before class, and if the teacher requires you to get an online code, and you didn't sign up for a hybrid class, switch classes, especially if its a math class, because then they don't really teach. Most of the teachers teach from the book, but will sometimes cover everything you need to know for the tests. And check to see if they have an edition in the library there, or even the public library before you spend hundreds of dollars on your textbooks.
In three sentences Eastern Florida State is an okay college, in terms of academics, but they have an amazing soccer team. Most of the teachers I've had are interesting and are fair with interesting assignments. There is however that bad apple every so often, and its kind of hit or miss if nobody tells you who to steer clear of.

Tips for prospective students You'll get in whether you're an adult returning to school or high school junior. The admissions are easy but whether you'll be able to take college-level classes is a totally different story.
In three sentences Great opportunities with a lower price tag. Amazing professors. Lots of things to get involved in if you're interested.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I find this campus to be very safe. They not only have it light up during the night but there are security patrols patrolling the campus at all times.
Clubs and Activities There are many clubs and activities that it would be impossible for students to not find something to be involve with.
Great for these types of students This college is great for the people that want to have an education that has a low cost.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There is a trail that it's behind the observatory that takes you around the college with amazing views.
Bang for the buck This college provides an excellent education with a very affordable cost. I think it's amazing!
What to do for fun There are many clubs, a great gym and once you make new friends you will find how much fun college can be.
Dorm Life I don't stay in the dorms.

Categories Comments What to do for fun Community Pool, Ropes program, volunteer opportunities
Food and Dining The college has a decent variety of food selections at the campus' cafeteria. Specials are offered there, as well there are vending snack and drink machines sprouted along the campus hall ways.
Dorm Life There are no dorms available on campus. There are only local apartment complexes nearby. Most students who attend this college either live with their parents/ guardian or on their own in homes and/or apartments. Most of the students who attend this college are local town residents .
Academic Rigor Depending on the instructor and the material and subject being instructed to the students. some classes are more rigorous than others from test and examinations to required work load from take home work to semester projects. Most professors administer the same level of difficulty in exams at this local college as if they would administer the same level of difficulty in exams to students attending an ivy league college. They are preparing students on a nationally competitive level as some students who graduate from this college with a two year degree will immediately transfer to a nationally recognized 4 year college
Tips for prospective students Improve on SAT and ACT scores Apply for FAFSA before deadlines Apply for Florida's Bright Future Scholarships if you are a Florida resident See Program Advisers
In three sentences Brevard Community College is a local college near my home and has recently changed its name from Brevard Community College to Eastern Florida State College. This college has transitioned from a two year community college to an accredited four year college. They are slowly acquiring more 4 year degree programs as funding is provided.

Categories Comments What to do for fun There is a student center with games and food and a planetarium that hosts laser shows on occasion as well as a nature trail running along a lake and leading to a nearby park.
Food and Dining The cafe here is a great place to relax between classes or have lunch though, i would suggest bringing your own food as the cafe is over priced for small portions.
Dorm Life No dorms are available at this campus.
Academic Rigor Courses do a good job at covering the material and preparing students to advance.
Tips for prospective students Be sure to make friends with the staff and ask about work study programs.
In three sentences Brevard community college (now Eastern Florida State College) has a generally friendly environment. The staff works hard to get the students involved in the community by hosting and promoting events helping students make connections and earn community service. The school also has many transfer opportunities with larger schools.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus safety seems to be a key issue for Brevard Community College. The security guards are always out making sure that the school and it's faculty and students are safe.
Greek Life None that I know of.
Clubs and Activities Even though I am not a part of any clubs, I know that Brevard Community College has a lot of clubs to choose from. As an outsider when it comes to clubs, they all seem to be fun and educational.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus None that I know of.
Bang for the buck Brevard Community College, even with the economy the way it is, makes it easy for students to get an education. They keep it cheap, but the student gets an excellent education as if they were going to a university. It is well worth every penny spent.
What to do for fun For fun, Brevard Community College has a basketball gym that students can go and play basketball on. But if that's not for you, they also have a weight room and pool area where students can either catch some sun or burn off some energy.
Food and Dining The little restaurant/cafe that Brevard Community College has, is good and matches a college students budget. They also have vending machines if the student just needs a drink or a snack to refuel.
Academic Rigor I know as a current student, I have always been challenged in all of the classes that I have taken here. To me, the academics are off the charts. Some teachers/professors are easier than others, but each one wants the student to learn and be a successful individual.
Tips for prospective students Some tips I would give to a new student are: 1. Be on time to class and take it serious. 2. Get to know the teacher/professor and their teaching habits because each is different. 3. Utilize the free services that the school provides. For example, the learning lab, math lab, and the study cubicles.
In three sentences Brevard Community College is a great school that has great personnel to help the students learn. I enjoyed earning my AA Degree there for my first two years that I attended. I feel that the teachers actually care about their students and if they learn and retain the information that is being taught to them.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Don't go through the parking lot at the Cocoa campus at night alone. The area is not safe.
What to do for fun I know very little about the clubs/extracurriculars as my job and personal endeavors did not leave time for them. However, there are many athletic options, and outside of school, the college is near the beach and theme parks with plenty of entertainment options.
Food and Dining Only ate at the little café on the first floor of the admissions building twice. The first time was fine, but it was remodeled for the worse. It now looks like the back of a warehouse, they axed the fridge that had salads, yogurts, and fruits (cutting their selection in half,) and the food is questionable.
Dorm Life Does not have a dorm. There are apartments nearby, but I caution anyone looking to avoid those that are right across from the main campus.
Academic Rigor Average coursework, not the most difficult academic endeavor, but again sufficient for core courses.
Tips for prospective students Excellent option if you are a high school student looking to save a little bit of money. Get your associate's degree here and transfer to the state college of your choice. All Florida state colleges accept the credits. Even planning to transfer to a private college in the area, I have not had any issues with my credits not being accepted. Very universal courses.
In three sentences Offers a basic education for less than a state college. Smaller campuses that are easier to navigate. Small class sizes with courses offered at many different times of day.

Greek Life Nope

What to do for fun Lots of clubs and organizations to join.
Food and Dining I haven't tried it
Dorm Life No Dorms

Categories Comments Campus Safety The security is well staffed and the campus is patrolled constantly. The staff are well trained for dealing with emergencies and if anything happens it recieves a prompt response from the officers. The parking tickets are a bit of a drag, but its all in a security officer's day.
Greek Life I dont know anyone with the greek life.
Clubs and Activities Any kind of club you can think of exists. They offer specialized training in different work fields and hands on experience that goes great with work enviroments. They are active in the community and bring life to issues that sometimes need addressed. Whatever your hobby may be, there is a club to match it.
Great for these types of students Students that are preparing themselves for the higher levels of knowledge and skills are going to benifit the most from this school. It gears students towards universities and even offers direct placement into the University of Central Florida.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus I am not sure of any unusual traditions.
Bang for the buck It is a state college so the prices are reasonable, and the education is extensive and thorough. It is a solid conerstone of information vital to the future. The campus is very nice and the staff is very friendly.
What to do for fun Events are held at the school several times a month. It gives clubs the opportunity to reach out to the students and the students an opportunity to get involved in the community. Free food is a big hit and seems to be the trend at these events, which is always a plus.
Food and Dining There are several cafes throughout the campus, each of which has an extensive menu. The food is served fresh, the cafeteria is clean and the prices are very reasonable.
Dorm Life I live off campus.
Academic Rigor The staff is very dedicated to their students and to making sure they are comprehensive to the material. They have a full understanding of the second step to the future and they are there to make sure the first step leads there.
Tips for prospective students Go in with an open mind because you can never predict how smoothly,or rough they may go. When something seems hopeless, never be afraid to reach out and ask for help. Many people are taking advantages on the services that are offered and it is a few small steps to reach out for a goal.

Clubs and Activities Dancing club and definitely the SGA club.
What to do for fun There's a lot of fun activities on campus. There's dancing class, the SGA club and a lot of fun other clubs you can join. The SGAs love putting little fun shows or the students so we can have fun on campus too.
Tips for prospective students Listen and take notes when you teachers are talking or explaining something. Do not be afraid to ask questions because you're afraid of looking not so smart. If you don't understand something make sure you voice that to your teacher.
In three sentences It's really a great place to learn your education for the things you will need in life. The teachers there are really helpful when it comes to understand your subjects. Most of all, it gives you an opportunity to learn and find out who and what you wanna become later in life.

Clubs and Activities There's always a club and event going on.
Great for these types of students Great for students just getting out of high school, looking for an affordable stepping stone in pursuing growing careers.
Bang for the buck Less than $200 a credit hour. Two classes (6 Credit Hours) have cost me $792.
What to do for fun There's a lounge on first floor of the school in the first building. There's a library where you can use the computers, and there's the cafeteria that also has computers.
Food and Dining The options are there but there's very simple and cheap options for food.
Dorm Life Can't say.
Academic Rigor Multiple classes at once can be challenging, but if you split it up like you would with other classes, it will be very easy. For example, if you take 4 classes, focus on 2 classes Monday and Wednesday, and the other 2 classes Tuesday and Thursday.
Tips for prospective students Take your time, pace yourself at first. It will be overwhelming at first but you'll ease into it if you keep the proper mindset for it.

Great for these types of students Anyone and everyone
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus They host a zombie run every year, SO MUCH FUN!
Bang for the buck Super cheap, and super convenient, I don't see how it could get better.
What to do for fun The Brevard zoo is a ten minute drive from the Melbourne campus and they have a ton to do, even for adults! Also all of the campuses are just a few minutes drive away from some of the best beaches in Florida!
Food and Dining Althought I've never eaten at the cafe' all of my friends say the food is great! There are a ton of other food places around though to satisfy even the pickiest of eaters.
Dorm Life No dorms unfortunately, the only exception is student athletes who live in nearby apartments.
Academic Rigor Most students have no problems in the classes, but if you do experience difficultly there are free tutoring programs offered at all of the campuses.
Tips for prospective students Make friends with your admissions and guidance counselors, they will be your saviors during your college experience.
In three sentences Brevard Community College upholds and inspiring student atmosphere, with a staff that is willing to coach students through any problems. The campuses are not as high tech as major universities in the area; however, they are making new additions and updating all of their resources. Categories Comments Food and Dining Each campus has a cafeteria. The food is good, but terribly overpriced for both quality and serving size.
Dorm Life There are no dormitories.
Academic Rigor The teachers teach down to the lowest person in the class. Even if there is a pre-req for the course, you will often not cover what you should in the class because the instructor will spend too much time backtracking over stuff students are expected to already know.
Tips for prospective students Get out while you can!

Categories Comments Clubs and Activities Brevard Community College has a quidditch club, like in Harry Potter. It is a very fun club. You don't even have to be into Harry Potter to enjoy this sport.
What to do for fun The beach is about a half hour away. There are malls close by to each campus as well.
Food and Dining Brevard Community College has a nice area to sit and eat lunch, but I do not recommend buying food from the cafeteria. Just go across the street and go to subway. It tastes better.
Dorm Life BCC does not have dorms.
Academic Rigor BCC does not have all of the classes that they say they offer. If they offer a class that you need but don't see it often, take it. It may be your last chance for a year or so.
Tips for prospective students The main tip I would give to prospective students is to talk to an adviser. I recommend seeing your adviser so often, that you could be best friends. It is very important and it saves a lot of time and money.
In three sentences Brevard Community College is a good school to get your AA or certification. The classes are small, between 10 to 25 people, so the teachers are able to give you personal attention and help. The campus is very clean and the school has fun events that go on to help you interact with your peers.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I usual see around two to three security guards around the campus at all times. They are great people, they stay all night to make sure everyone leaves safely. They are really polite and friendly, so it,'s easy to get a long with them.
Clubs and Activities There is a quidditch team that looks like a bunch of fun. There is the SGA that organizes many events. Every week Id see something whether it was an event going on or an upcoming event during the following week.
Great for these types of students Shy, reserved. If you need a quiet, uncrowded place to go to, go to BCC. Great place to study, people are polite and don't mind talking.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There is usually SGA traditions such as coming back to school pizza in the lobby, or shakespeare in the sun plays. I was offered to play on the quidditch team but stuck with track and cross country instead.
Bang for the buck I love to be active, I'm working part-time while going to college. I work out frequently, study, and play with my dog in my free time. I am thinking about starting MMA, I just bought a bag, gloves, and I'm getting ready to start training.
What to do for fun I am a little weird. I love doing sports for fun. In my free time, I love to go for a run, workout, or just hangout and see my friends, I love them so much.
Food and Dining I ate at a family-owned business at the Titusville BCC campus, and I have to say, it's amazing. I love the food there and although I love to eat, it is amazing. The people that own the restaurant are so kind and polite.
Dorm Life I didn't stay in a dorm during my time at BCC, I transient ed from home, and honestly, it's nice to be able to get onto campus with much hassle.
Academic Rigor The classes at BCC are decently challenging. The professors definitely want you to learn the material and actually learn what is being taught instead of giving you a free A. I've had my struggles but nothing good is accomplished without a little hard work.
Tips for prospective students Start off at BCC, it is a great place to start off and think of what you want to do with your general of starting degree.
In three sentences Being at this college for the past 3 years gives me a lot of experience even though I am just a teenager. Categories Comments Campus Safety Brevard Community College security guards are very friendly, and do an excellent job of patrolling the campuses regularly. They tend to enjoy driving around in golf carts.
Clubs and Activities There are tons of clubs at Brevard Community College: Intervarsity (the Christian club), Environmental club, Spinecrackers (book club), Gaming club (self explanatory), Math club, Art club, Psychology club, just to name a few. There are also chapters of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society for those with high G.P.A.'s.
What to do for fun The campus is a short driving distance from the beach, and around an hour's drive away from Disney World.
Food and Dining The resident cafe on campus is nearly always busy. The food, however, is rather greasy. It is more a matter of personal taste, as the fries are generally loved by all.
Dorm Life Brevard Community College does not have any dorms.
Academic Rigor Classes are not too difficult for the student who is truly interested in learning.
Tips for prospective students Students should always introduce themselves to their professors. If the instructors can see the effort the student is putting into class work, they will be more inclined to help if the student needs assistance.
In three sentences Brevard Community College is a potential stepping stone for beginning students. Small classroom sizes, a nice library, and friendly professors, give this college a cozy feeling. Because of these aspects, BCC is wonderful for people fresh out of High School or returning to college.

Categories Comments Bang for the buck While the school is terribly affordable, unfortunately some parts of the education suffer for it.
What to do for fun BCC offers planetariums, and other like buildings and activities to partake in.
Food and Dining Once again as I have said before, the BCC campuses are small, one can simply dine at home.
Dorm Life BCC does not need dorms as it is a community college, so what better experience is there than living in the comfort of one's own home?
Academic Rigor While some classes will be exceedingly difficult others will not. Some classes can even be passed with a B while only doing half of the assignments. It is understandable that the teachers wish to help the student as best as they can, but the truth is that even more simply do not care.
Tips for prospective students Keep up to date with your school work, remain organized, and do not be afraid to contact your teacher for help.
In three sentences Brevard Community College is close and affordable. It offers a wide range of online classes and even more traditional classroom setting classes.

Food and Dining Imbus Cafe on campus is very inexpensive and surprisingly good. Also, many off campus restaurants nearby.

Academic Rigor Many of the instructors at BCC structure their classes so that diligent students will do well. If you are not a slacker, you will not have a hard time earning A's and B's in most, if not all, of your classes.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Every time I am on campus, whether it be during that day or after hours during the night classes, I can see the campus cops patrolling. Itâ??s very reassuring knowing that they are always monitoring the grounds and keeping the students safe.
What to do for fun Seeing as it is just a community college, everyone just comes for their class then goes back home. However you do have intramural sports and other clubs to participate in if that's what you're interested in. Also since BCC is connected to the King Center, you can easily go to whatever performances are being shown there.
Food and Dining The one dining hall on campus is very old and hardly every used. It's small and almost uninviting. However I have never personally ordered any food from there so I cannot comment on the actual quality. There are vending machines located all throughout the ground though as well as a good selecting of snacks in the bookstore.
Dorm Life BCC is a community college and does not have any dorms. However there is different housing subdivisions located all around the school.
Academic Rigor If you want easy classes with mediocre professors, BCC has it. However there are just as many if not more instructors who are more than qualified and challenge the students each and every day of class. A good education can definitely be attained at BCC.
Tips for prospective students Seeing as most people get automatically accepted into BCC, the only tips I could give before anyone starts is to just be open to the idea of education. Don't go into it thinking that just because it's a community college you're not going to learn. If you're open and willing, the knowledge is there to be soaked up.
In three sentences I was a bit apprehensive starting at a community college as I wasn't expecting anything too amazing, however since starting at BCC, I've been pleasantly surprised by the vigor of the classes, knowledge of the teachers, and the accommodation of all the staff. Everyone is very welcoming from the professors to the other students and there are plenty of resources around campus which can help you get connected and find your niche or just help you stay on track academically.

Categories Comments Bang for the buck BCC offers a ton of classes for a cheap price compared to universities that offer the same classes. It is definitely the school to attend for basic AA courses.
Food and Dining Decent cafe on campus, and lots of snacks in the campus bookstore.
Dorm Life Since this is a community college, there are no dorms on campus. But this is a great school to attend if still living with your parents right out of high school.
Academic Rigor Academics are great at this school. Almost every class has very intelligent teachers who know exactly what they are teaching. The teaching methods vary from professor to professor yet are impressive and effective overall.
Tips for prospective students It is important not to get stressed out with classes. So a good thing is to keep a healthy balance of school along with your social life. This will keep you less stressed and more focused.
In three sentences Brevard Community College is a great option for people wanting to save money in undergrad studies. This school offers a wide variety of cultured and very bright teachers to take classes with along with the great students that attend. On a scale of 1-10, I give it an eight because of outstanding of a community college it is.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There has never been an incident at Brevard Community College while I have been attending there. Campus security is always patrolling around, making sure that everyone is safe and protected.
Great for these types of students Older people who want to further their education, adults who wish to take college while working at their current job, high school students wanting to receive a more challenging learning atmosphere, high school graduates who want to save money by not attending a university right away.
Bang for the buck As I am currently a dual enrolled student, the bang for the buck is obviously five stars. I'm getting a college education for free. What's even better is that the students are mature, and the teachers are passionate about their subjects, making the learning environment just about perfect.
What to do for fun There are constant activities taking place at Brevard Community College. There is a zombie run, in which winner receive tickets to Halloween Horror Nights at Universal. There is a Relay for Life team for those who wish to do community service, and there are plenty of activity days to partake in throughout each semester
Food and Dining The college campuses each have their own small cafeterias and vending machines, but the primary purpose of this community college is to provide students with an education, not a five course meal.
Dorm Life Being a community college, there is no dorm life that goes on. This would be because there are no dorms to speak of in this community college.
Academic Rigor Being a community college, the academic rigor is not too much, nor too little. Brevard Community College wants to attract as many people as possible, and there are classes for all ranges of students. Honor programs, fourth credit options, and preparatory classes allow for everyone to find what is right for them.
Tips for prospective students The most important tip I could give would be to study hard. This is a college, and not a high school. Just because it is not a university does not mean the classes are easy. They are all challenging, but if one puts their effort into it, the classes become very manageable.
In three sentences Brevard Community college is designed for just about anyone to attend its campus. Whether you are young or old, going to BCC is a great way to further your education, while paying less money than you would at a university. The teachers and staff are all hardworking, and make sure that attendees of BCC get the most out of their college life.

Categories Comments Bang for the buck Because of how most of the material is covered, if you already know any of the material, you will often not receive the education that you are paying for. A lot of this seems to be because professors are afraid to leave anyone behind and the large number of dual enrollment students are not paying for the class and are not going to say anything about it.
Food and Dining The cafeterias (at Palm Bay and Cocoa campuses, at least) are great but have very limited hours, small portions, and are often overpriced.
Dorm Life There are not dorms at BCC
Academic Rigor Many classes are taught down to the absolute lowest level in the class. If you already know any of the material that will be taught in the class, you might find yourself feeling bored through much of the course.
In three sentences BCC is an okay school, but there are a lot of dual enrollment or early admissions kids, which definitely leaves many of the classes with a more high school feel. Many of your professors will teach down to the lowest level found in the class, making it easy to skate through most of them.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus is overall secure. I never feel that you are in any danger. Security officers drive around the campus. It is overall a safe campus to do your studies.
Clubs and Activities There are about 12 clubs that you can participate, the big ones being Student Government and Rotary Club. There are not a lot of clubs, but it is a very small college. Students do have the right to start clubs if they want, but they need to get a sponsor.
Bang for the buck If you plan on transferring to a Florida university, BCC is an excellent choice because it is inexpensive and you will not have to pay for room and board. You may also get scholarships if you transfer with your AA to certain Florida Universities.
Food and Dining The dining is an average cafeteria with a variety hamburgers, wraps, or chicken. It is not expensive but it is not so cheap either. It will probably better to go to sonic that is 2 miles away from the campus.
Dorm Life I do not believe that there are any dorms at Brevard Community College. BCC is for students who do not want to leave home as well as save money for students. For people who want to live in campus, you will have to find an apartment nearby.
Academic Rigor Some of the classes are easy (i.e Success Strategies) or difficult (General Biology). It all depends on the major you plan on pursuing. If you work hard and strive to be the best you can become, then you will do exceedingly well at Brevard Community College.
Tips for prospective students It took about a week for me to apply to Brevard Community College because I had to do some applications such as proving residency at Florida and submitting SAT or ACT scores. Like most other colleges, its best to sign up for class early than late. Like every college, there are some great teachers at BCC who you would want to have, but there are also not-so-great teachers.
In three sentences Brevard Community College is a great college for students start their journey into becoming what they want to do in life. It is inexpensive and the classes are small which helps students with learning. I heard that compared to other community colleges, Brevard Community College has one of the highest graduation rates in Florida.

Food and Dining I don't eat in the dining area.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Security guards patrol the campus all day and there are always people nearby.
Clubs and Activities Clubs for a variety of interests are available; some even offer college credit!
Great for these types of students Great for students with a lack of funds or students that are undecided. The college is also great for working people.
Bang for the buck The college is very affordable and provides high-quality education that can fit into any schedule.
What to do for fun A student lounge is available with modern gaming systems, a pool table, a large TV, and a cafeteria. The campus hosts a large library, and a low-commitment community orchestra plays year-round.
Food and Dining A bookstore is on campus with snacks and soups available. Students can also visit a reasonably-priced cafeteria located in the student lounge.
Dorm Life Unavailable
Academic Rigor Brevard Community College is very flexible in its academics. Students can progress slowly through courses or speed through them, and the courses run a variety of difficulties.
Tips for prospective students Register for classes early, buy books early, and get to know the campus before classes start.
In three sentences Brevard Community College is an excellent jumping off point for anyone pursuing higher education. Classes consist of high school students, fresh graduates, and people who have been in the professional world for years already. A single semester leaves students feeling more confident about school and builds new contacts for the future.

Categories Comments What to do for fun At the moment nothing. I am too busy with work and school that on my only day off I'm just catching up on laundry and homework.
Food and Dining I like that they have some healthy options but could use more. Also I went to the cafeteria and they were closed and it was only 2pm. So I was a little upset because I didn't have time to leave and get real food so I had to go to the bookstore and buy snacks.
Dorm Life They do not offer dorms here.
Academic Rigor I have had a difficult time but I haven't been to school in awhile so I'm learning to balance school, work and a social life.
Tips for prospective students Make sure to get your books early, they tend to run out before the first week of school.
In three sentences This school is a great stepping stone to continue education, no matter what age you are. The teachers are all very nice. Could use more help or be better organized in the main office, too much walking around talking to 5 different people just to accomplish one task.

Categories Comments What to do for fun Brevard community college offers many fun things. Drama club, music club, gospel choir, and even a surf club! But besides just the usual clubs you can also catch some events going on around campus.
Food and Dining If were talking about the food and dining in the area I'd say there are no words to describe it. You can literally drive 3 minutes down the street and be eating Japanese food. When it comes to campus food I'd say the description is about the same. Fresh foods being cooked right on the spot for you. Simply just order and wait a few minutes and your meal comes right up.
Dorm Life Brevard Community College does not have any dorms. But that doesn't effect me at all considering I live about 10 minutes away from the campus. The location is tremendously beneficial. Because if I was someone who just moved out here I would of been able to find a place to stay at a reasonable price.
Academic Rigor There isn't anything that I can think of at this college that I'd consider too difficult to achieve when it comes to academics.
Tips for prospective students If you are looking forward to attending this college there are a few things you should keep in mind. Always arrive to class on time, remain focus in class, and turn in your work in a timely manner. Basically the things you've probably been hearing since elementary school. Doing these things will guarantee a successful college expedition.
In three sentences Everything about this school is amazing. The teachers, the different choices of classes, and of course the amazing students all make the school so amazing. I would recommend this school to anyone that was looking for a college to attend.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I have not seen or heard of any issues on campus and this is my 2nd year at BCC.
Clubs and Activities Lots of stuff is available-you just have look. I have made all kinds of new friends at BCC. We like to have jam sessions on campus and the other students hang out to listen. No one bothers us.
Great for these types of students Students that are not sure what type of career to go into will do well to start out at BCC. We have a 2 for 2 program that let you take your academics at the community site and then transfer to UCF for the final 2 years of your actual major.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus BCC just added a football team. That is exciting.
Bang for the buck Apply for scholarships even if you recieve enough financial aid. You may need the aid the following year. It is actually hard to get scholarships....I haven't gotten one yet. My aid this year just paid for my schooling.
What to do for fun Always have friends at the local community college.
Food and Dining Community College
Dorm Life Community College
Academic Rigor I find that the classes are challenging depending on the selected classes. Teachers take their job seriously-I like them.
Tips for prospective students Take your parent with you to registration. Actually everytime you go until you are actually in classes. I didn't have any problems last year when my mom went with me for registration. This year was so bad that a lot of students didn't get in to a COMMUNITY college. Very sad. F for the office and aid staff!
In three sentences I enjoyed my first year at the school. However this year every student's aid or registration was messed up and we had to pay a $35.00 extra registration fee. Pretty disappointing so far as staff was not helpful at all and it just seemed like a way for them to make extra money off the students.

Food and Dining I don't dine in the area.
Dorm Life I don't live in a dorm.
Academic Rigor The classes here are just like any you would take at a four-year university in regards to content; however, there are so many benefits to Brevard Community College such as their smaller class sizes, individualized attention from professors, multiple campuses to chose from, and an affordable tuition!
Tips for prospective students A tip I would give prospective students would be to take it seriously, while many people see community college as just an easier version of university, the classes you take at Brevard Community College are just like the ones you would take at any four-year university, so always do your best!
In three sentences Although in high school, this is my second year in the Collegiate Program; a program allows high school honor students such as myself to pursue their associates of arts while still in high school. Attending this college has been an amazing experience for me, the class sizes are perfect, the teachers are simply wonderful and do an excellent job in how they convey their course content, and since I am dual-enrolled, I don't have to pay for it, which is simply an amazing opportunity. I definitely recommend that anyone currently in high school takes advantage of the dual-enrollment opportunity to earn college credits while in high school; It's absolutely free, and even if you aren't in high school, Brevard Community College offers great programs and financial aid opportunities, and will even automatically admit you into UCF upon completion of an associates of arts degree with their direct connect program!

Bang for the buck The prices are not too high and finacial aid and scholarships are available. The education received is high quality and costs much more at universities.

Dorm Life There is no dorm life at BCC. However there are many clubs and groups to be involved in if you so wish. There are a few apartments and neighborhoods within walking distance.
Academic Rigor BCC's academics are very high quality. As a student, I could always expect to have to work hard for good grades. My professors told me that the education received at BCC was equivalent to that of a university and that when we were ready to attend a university, we would be prepared.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students BCC is great for students who don't have much money or are not sure what they want to do in college.
Bang for the buck BCC is a very cheap school because it is a Community College. They offer AA in general education and AS is several different categories. It is a good, cheap place to start out.
What to do for fun In Cocoa there is not much to do for fun. However, the beach is 15 minutes away, Orlando is 45 minutes away, and you can also go to Melbourne which is about 25 minutes.

Dorm Life There are no dorms at BCC. However there are cheap houses and apartments around the area. Most students at BCC still live at home.
Academic Rigor BCC is not very hard, depending on the class and the teacher. Just like any school, you will have some teachers who do not care, and others who care too much.
Tips for prospective students Buy your books used. Most people think that buying your books new will give you a higher resale value, however, after you are done with them they are now used. Also, don't miss many classes. First of all, if you miss too many, you get withdrawn from the class. Secondly, you become very lost in the class.
In three sentences BCC is a fairly easy school. Depending on the teacher, it is like going into 13th grade after high school. I would recommend BCC to any student who is not quite sure what they want to do, or if they are unable to pay for a university.

Academic Rigor I'm only giving 4 stars because there are some instructors that really want to be liked and they make their courses easier to achieve A's in than they should.
Tips for prospective students Make the effort to attend all lectures and do all assignments in each course. Even if a course is difficult for you, putting in the time and effort needed to learn the material is vital to your success. Learning is a lifelong process and imperative for personal growth. Do not associate with students that attempt to cheat on quizzes, assignments or exams. If a student copies your papers or exams (even if you are unaware at the time) it can hurt you. Don't make the mistake of allowing anyone to cheat off your work. Learn what exactly plagiarism is and don't do it. Be honest, work hard and you'll succeed!
In three sentences The tuition and books are affordable for most students. Most of the instructors are highly educated, very helpful and interested in their students' success. Recommendations from professors are extremely helpful in obtaining scholarship funds.

Categories Comments Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There may be campus security, but if they're not partying eating donuts in their office, they're drag racing their golf carts giving tickets. Not very helpful.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Brevard Community college has campus police 24/7 along with cameras. The campuses are very safe and I don't feel unsafe ever. There is always more than one security officer on duty at a time which also aides in the help of making it a more secure campus.
Greek Life Brevard Community college does not have fraternities or sororities like universities do.
Clubs and Activities Brevard Community college has so many clubs it is hard to say them all. I am currently a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society which is our honors club at Brevard Community college. There is also SGA and many many other clubs. The great thing about BCC is that if you would like to start your own club that is possible. All you have to do is start one! It is just that simple.
Great for these types of students Brevard Community college is great for students who do not have the money to move away and can't afford the high prices of the university. It is very convenient, fun, and still gives each student the same education as if they were at a university.
Bang for the buck At Brevard Community college the cost is only around $106 per credit hour. This I am sure is half of what it costs per credit hour at a university. On top of it being all around cheaper, it is easier to get one on one time with your professors. At Brevard Community college, the class sizes rarely exceed 40 people. Therefore it makes it quite easy for a student to get the help and attention they may need to pass the class.
What to do for fun Brevard Community college offers many different activities to do for fun. They are always having events going on for different clubs. Each event usually has music, food, games, prizes, some sort of bounce house, and give aways! It is always fun to come to class or walk back from class and hear the music and see the fun stuff going on around my campus.
Food and Dining All of my classes are basically at the Titusville Brevard Community college campus and there is a great family owned cafe inside our student services building. It has great food and very cheerful people who work there. The Cocoa campus also has a good variety of food to choose from. Brevard Community college does many events where they hand out free food which is great for us students who are on have a low income!
Dorm Life Brevard Community college does not really offer dorm life for students because there are 4 different campuses to choose from. There are cheap apartments and such around the campuses that are available but there really isn't any set dorms for students to live in.
Academic Rigor Everyone think Brevard Community college is just an easy school to pass your classes and just do the bare minimum on, but it is not. You have to do your homework, go to class, stay alert, take notes, be on time, and be prepared for classes just like at any other community college or university. The only difference academic wise between Brevard Community college and universities is that the classes are extremely smaller and it is easier to get help from your professor. I love the way Brevard Community college classes are set up. I feel like my voice can be heard in a class.
Tips for prospective students Some tips for prospective students would be that Brevard Community is not just a breeze in and out of school. You do have to work to earn your degree or certificate. Don't buy the textbook until you have checked with your professor to see if you actually need it or if you may use an older version of the text. Some teachers do not always use the book or even will let you use an older version. Don't knock Brevard Community college. Just because it isn't a big university doesn't mean you are not getting the right education you need to move on in life. Last but not least, have fun while you are there! Get involved, get to know people, get to know your teachers, and make make new friends!
In three sentences I believe Brevard Community college would get a 10 out of 10 rating. It has great professors, classes, easy access to your professors, convenient, and less expensive than universities. I loved going here and would recommend it to anyone to take their general education classes at Brevard Community college.

Academic Rigor Very easy, not a lot of deadlines, teachers are very flexible. Not held to higher standards like a university.

Categories Comments Campus Safety very open and for the most part, well-lit. there are always security guards on golf carts around and all of the night classes are placed right by the parking lot so it's a quick trip to the car.
Great for these types of students paying your own way, want to make friends and just relax.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus we have plenty of fairs/carnivals/festivals/concerts/seminars not only on campus but at the king center (walking distance) but at the wickham park right down the street as well.
Bang for the buck it's not too expensive of a school if you just want to get a 2 year degree. everyone will work with you because we all know we are just trying to get to the same place.
What to do for fun the beach is less than 15 minutes away and we also have a couple downtown's depending on which campus you go to; cocoa or melbourne. plus it's not a far drive to a few big cities around here.

Categories Comments Campus Safety bcc has campus security on school grounds all the time. if you feel for some reason that it isn't safe for you to go to your car alone they would be more than happy to escort you to your car.
Greek Life we do have phi theta kappa on campus but that is all i know.
Clubs and Activities there are actually a lot of clubs and activities. just the other day my teacher had a guest speaker come in to tell us about some of the clubs like the environmental club, art club, sga, etc.
Great for these types of students any type really. they have several different types of majors and activities at the school.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus no unusual traditions however at the palm bay campus there is this little gondola thing on the opposite side of the lake that the school is on. you can go around the lake to get back there but it is actually pretty creepy since it is all woods and such.
Bang for the buck the college is definitely worth the money. like i said earlier, the school is for those who don't quite have the money for the expensive universities.
What to do for fun there will actually be some on campus activities that they do. they will have a welcome day where they have a live dj on the school grounds, food, shirts, things like that. there are some movie nights towards the days of final exams. so they typically will have some things planned to do on certain days, you just have to keep any eye out.
Food and Dining they have one on campus restaurant but it is actually a pretty good place to eat. i recommend their subs, they might be a little bit more expensive than subway but you won't be hungry after just half a sub.
Dorm Life no dorms are available to bcc so don't even ask about the dorms.
Academic Rigor the overall difficulties of the classes largely depend on the student. if you focus and do what you need to then they are fairly easy. if you don't pay attention and slack off then you will find yourself in some difficult classes. the only thing though is that the teachers for some reason have an uncanny knack for assigning due dates of major papers and projects on the same day or week.
Tips for prospective students make sure you study and always ask the teacher to explain things you don't understand. also if you are taking a course with a teacher that you just cannot learn from make sure you switch out to a different teacher as soon as possible. if you pester the guidance counselors enough they will switch you.
In three sentences bcc is an excellent school for students who can't quite get the money for the high priced tuitions of universities. bcc is also a good place for those who don't know what it is they want to do yet to get started on finding a path. i would recommend bcc to any one.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Brevard Community College is great for students who want to learn more while staying at home. Staying at home will give you more free time to get involved in the Student Clubs and getting better grades!
Tips for prospective students I chose to go to a Community College instead of a University because not only could I not afford to leave home yet, but I felt that I wasn't ready to leave the nest yet. Everyone that went off to the Universities laughed at me for staying, but I got the last laugh when they failed all of their classes due to not being able to balance partying with school work. Going to a Community College isn't something that you should ever feel ashamed of because in some circumstances, it's the smartest thing to do. Now you will have an Associates degree , be able to go to any Florida University of your choice, and GUARANTEED admission while your friends will only be halfway done with school. One last tip is to use RateMyProfessor.com to help you pick the best teacher for you!
Bang for the buck If you go to the FAFSA website, apply for financial aid, and get a Pell Grant, then you get to go to school for free because it covers tuition and books! Community college classes are generally cheaper than University classes with a smaller class size that will help some people to better succeed.
Did enjoy being here I Loved every second that I spent at BCC! There always have fun events going on and they have clubs for many different interests from SGA to anime to karate! The cafeteria food was great and there are plenty of places throughout the campus to relax and study.
Did learn a lot The teachers here at BCC really try their best to help you learn! They are always sure to make time for their students if they ever have any questions about any assignments. If you still need any extra help, BCC provides free access to the Learning labs which provides you with one-on-one time with tutors in Math and English!

Categories Comments Bang for the buck During these struggling economic times, BCC is a sensible choice for a college education. It is much cheaper than going straight into a university and allows easy access into UCF after completing whatever degree one is working for. Scholarships, grants, and other financial aid applications are accepted and offered during registration. Undoubtedly, I recommend attending BCC for a quality education and affordable tuition.
Am enjoying being here I enjoy BCC due to its friendly atmosphere and wide range of ages and personalities. BCC is made comfortable for first-year college students to returning older adult students. The centralized location between Mims and Titusville provides easy traveling for Brevard County civilians.
Am learning a lot The teachers and courses offered at BCC provide opportunities to expand your views on social interaction, thought processing, and the value of education. Like anything, you get out of it what you put into it. Attending class, focusing on the subjects, and working with fellow students will give you a sense of self worth.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Brevard county high school students interested in sampling college before going away to school; high school students interested in saving money and getting a head start in general education college courses; High school graduates who cannot yet afford/are not ready to go away to university just yet - once you have your AA no one can take it away from you or say you haven't succeeded past a high school education! BCC is also great for individuals returning to college; BCC has many different programs and welcomes people returning to college to gain new skills or update current ones for better success in the future.
Tips for prospective students Check in every semester with your guidance counselor to keep all degree requiremts properly approached and satisfied as you study at BCC. Always check your web account/profile to be updated on current events, class activities/grades, and register as soon as possible for classes so you can get what you want each semester. Map out your classes at BCC so you can make sure you take everything you need as efficiently as possible, especially if a class you need is only offered seasonally.
Bang for the buck Despite the cuts in Bright Futures over the last few years, BCC was still affordable for me. I got a comparably sufficient education at BCC with various professors and saved thousands! I enjoyed having smaller classes too; I do not remember having a class larger than 40 people, and some classes were packed almost to that amount only because the Bright Futures Scholarship cuts required many students to change enrollments from universities to BCC in order to be able to afford any kind of college education. Having such an institution available in my own community is a blessing and a great opportunity to participate in - I am proud to be a BCC alumni with an Honors AA!
Did enjoy being here BCC is a friendly and open environment that encourages higher learning. The only downside is that it is not the same as University experience due to people commuting from campus to campus and high school dual enrollment adding a different element to the school's social formula. Student Government attempts to involve all students as a community but when you only go to class and then leave, you are likely to miss some of the activities on campus. If you find a niche and become involved you will find many great people alongside you.
Did learn a lot I thoroughly enjoyed participating in the Honors Program at Brevard Community College. The instructors would challenge you to think outside the box and to know more than just the data one is required to regurgitate in order to pass a basic class. Several of my traditional aademic classes such as statistics and environmental science challenged me to maintain high standards and to push to do honor quality work in all my classes because it made all my classes more nejoyable. Being prepared for class gave me the opportunity to walk away learning more then what I would have learned if I only did the minimum requirement to pass.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Every type: parents, night students, returning students, young students, elderly students, and unconventional students.
Tips for prospective students Take the College Success Strategies for College and Life class in the beginning; your collegiate future will not be the same. This class gives one an unique outlook on one's life as a student. Other than that, the school gives one a positive attitude that keeps one dedicated and responsible, valuing the investment that one is making for one's future.
Bang for the buck BCC is certainly the frugal choice. I chose BCC because it has been rated as the number one Community College in the nation (and because it is fifteen minutes away). I would have gone off to a four-year institution if it were not that I felt comfortable with the high standards of education. I am shocked to find that I can get two years of a four-year degree with the same or better standard of learning for such a fraction of the cost.
Am enjoying being here I enjoy being a student as BCC, whether it is the campuses intimate atmosphere or just the sweet smell of pedagogy, I am always smiling and enjoying the time at school. The positive outlook is contagious, as I am always exchanging smiles with my peers and the faculty ans staff.
Am learning a lot Brevard Community College (BCC) harvest a certain kind of environment that motivates and inspires everyone to learn, even the teachers. The faculty really are knowledgeable and personal; they want to help me learn, as if I am in their best interest. Beside the curriculum, I am learning an array of things about myself and the world around me.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students BCC is great for students who like to be social. It's not the greatest for a lone student like me, because almost everyone sitting down or hanging around is with other people. There are a lot of places to lounge around and drink some coffee, and just relax. I just get in, attend my class and get out of there as fast as I can to avoid confronting staff or a student I don't want to remember from high school. If you are like this, you won't enjoy it so much. As far as I can tell, there are a lot of clubs and things to do while being a student. You'll get access to a school e-mail account, the library and the computers, and other things. There is a small gym at the Palm Bay campus, and the larger campuses such as Cocoa have larger facilities such as a Planetarium and a Swimming Pool. You can also take little courses just for your own enrichment which I think is pretty cool. BCC is good for students who also want to save some money.
Tips for prospective students As mentioned in the above box, DON'T buy or sell your books at the bookstore. They advertise rental books now, but I went in to rent a common psychology 1 book, and they said it's not available for rent. They will laugh at you if you ask for a used book (because they want your $$$). Prices at the cafeteria aren't the best either, so bring your own lunch unless money isn't a problem). Even though I'm bringing up all of these issues with BCC, these things are a problem at all colleges. Go to ratemyprofessor.com and find BCC and you will be able to find reviews on most teachers there written by their past students. This has helped me greatly in finding a good teacher. Don't expect any help from any of the administration (not just Palm Bay, all of the campuses are clueless). Decide what you are interested in doing, and look at which campus offers it. Most likely, Palm Bay or Titusville do not offer it (almost everything is at Cocoa.)
Bang for the buck One thing I will admit is that you do save money going to BCC. Because I don't really care for BCC, I expressed in taking my Paramedic program through Keiser University, only to find that prices are much higher going to any other college. Do NOT buy your textbooks from the book store. They are the biggest rip off and will do anything to get your money. All colleges are like this though. I highly recommend buying yours offline. If you are interested in selling your books at the end of the semester, DO NOT sell them back to the bookstore. I paid 200 dollars for my EMT book, and one of my classmates was offered $3 if he sold it back to them. If you do research on the book your trying to sell, you will succeed. I have successfully sold all of my books online ranging from $15-60. But if the prices of classes is what you are concerned about, the price is decent. Make sure you know what you want to take though, because they are still a few hundred dollars.
Am enjoying being here I don't mind being on the campus but have had enough experiences with rude staff and people who are clueless about everything that I'm much happier off campus. I'm the kind of guy that just shows up to his class so he can get his credit, and leave right away when it's over. Just the overall atmosphere of being around people (and people from high school) isn't the greatest in my opinion if you are trying to start a new life. I don't mind being on campus so much unless I have something to work out with the office. (Don't expect any help from guidance counselors, admissions or financial aid, they are clueless most of the time). Overall, the atmosphere is okay but I give it 2/5 stars.
Am learning a lot Learning different things at BCC will go as far as you are willing to go. I have mainly attended the Palm Bay campus but also Cocoa. The teachers to me are pretty good. A lot of teachers will give you busy work and make you feel like your still in high school. I would recommend going on to ratemyprofessor.com for a list of most teachers in the school, and read reviews about them from past students (since in my opinion, how much you learn also depends on a good teacher). If you wish to get the most out of your class, expect to have a good amount of homework and if applicable, essay writing. I also took the EMT program and squeezed everything into 5 months, so if you are doing a short program, you will definitely want to put a good effort forth and try to learn as much as you can.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students If you liked the size of your high school class, BCC would be perfect for you. You will never have to worry about missing something the teacher said or the class being so crowded you can not even think straight. BCC would also be great for the kind of student that does not like to be far away from home. With so many BCC campuses, it would be hard to find a way to live far away from BCC. Other then those options, BCC is really perfect for anybody.
Tips for prospective students When thinking about the future remember your text books. Never buy them from the book store, unless absolutely necessary. Buying books online is a great way to hold onto those dollars. Another topic to think about is to think deeper into your future. When you have finished here at BCC, just remember, you can always transfer to UCF if you want to continue this long and perilous journey of education.
Bang for the buck A person would absolutely obtain their money's worth at BCC. I myself like to take as many classes as I possibly can. For me to take five classes it costs me nothing. The price between a giant university and BCC is very different to say the least. Even if you so desired to go to UCF, going to BCC first allows you to directly transfer to this school. I receive a whole lot more than what I give to BCC.
Am enjoying being here I am defiantly enjoying being at BCC. I enjoy knowing that I can freely speak to my teachers about the class. I enjoy knowing that my friends, instead of being far away from me on a huge campus, are right here next to me. I enjoy knowing that I am getting a great education only ten minutes away from me. I enjoy seeing all my friends from high school, here where I am. I enjoy attending BCC.
Am learning a lot At Brevard Community College, you can learn a lot to say the least. In high school, learning seemed so tedious and boring because it was common knowledge. Here at BCC, learning means learning, not sitting in class anticipating when the teacher finally says, See you next time!. If you do not understand something, just ask! Every single teacher that I have had always asks the class, Does anyone have any questions?. For the first time it seems these teachers actually want you to learn something and really care about your learning experience. When attending a huge college full of who knows how many people, if you miss something the teacher says, well, too bad. There is a more than good chance, you will never even speak to your teacher, even if you try. I would much rather go through college knowing I learned all I could, instead of knowing I missed too much information.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Financially strapped students- at $80 a credit for Florida residents, almost anyone can afford tuition. Students without direction- for those that have no intended major yet but know they want to go to college, BCC allows for an environment to try new things and (hopefully) find your career path. Less-than-stellar high school students- if your high school transcript isn't what you'd like it to be or you got denied acceptance at your school of choice, BCC is a great place to go to bulk up your resume. Upon graduation from BCC, you are GUARANTEED a spot at a Florida public four-year college, and your application at all schools no longer has to go through the 'first time in college' office, and the office for current students can be more forgiving in their acceptances.
Tips for prospective students Don't buy your books at the bookstores on campus- they can be ridiculously pricey and they make you think that it's the only place to buy them. That's not true, just jot down the author's name and the title and the edition and buy them elsewhere- there are loads of good places to get them online and usually you can get a good used one for about half the price of a well-worn one at BCC.
Bang for the buck There's no denying that BCC is ridiculously cheap, and the classes aren't bad at all- plus the course catalog is huge, so you're bound to find something you're interested in.
Am enjoying being here Being a community college, BCC doesn't offer many of the same things a traditional college would in that there is no housing offered and the 'college town' environment is nonexistent. The array of students is great in that you may find high school students on campus just as easily as you would middle-aged students, but you will only occasionally run across a student with big ambitions. If this isn't important to you, it isn't a factor, and some of the professors are certainly fantastic and the small-school environment provides for a good experience with them, but there are also the surly group that aspired to greater than teaching at a community college that can occasionally take their passive-aggressive frustration out on their students.
Am learning a lot Most of the classes you'll take at BCC are the basic classes you'd take in the first two years of any four-year degree program, so you're not likely to find much that is specific to your desired school of study actually on the path towards your degree. As is the case with most of the freshman and sophomore course load, the classes can be a bit redundant in accordance with your high school curriculum, but it does do a good job of getting you through the classes you'd need anywhere pretty quickly and hassle-free. The classes are often very easy to pass, but as far as actual retention of information goes... don't expect a whole lot.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students BCC is great for students that are still trying to figure out what they want to do with their life. I was on the fence my ehole high school career, and BCC really helped me pinpoint what I love to do, and what I'm best at, which is Writing.
Tips for prospective students Apply as soon as you can! It is important to meet with an advisor so that he or she can get you on the right track. Be sure to only take on what you can handle. I started out with only taking 4 classes and now I'm ready to take on 5 this semester.
