Don't be afraid to face this unknown social situation. As a city girl, it was a hard transition to move into a rural area with little diversity. However, I was able to meet many different, amazing people that are as driven as I am to get our education. The classes are pretty hard and so very easy to feel overwhelmed, but I've come to learn that the best way to tackle this is to keep in contact contact with your professors and make a friend in each class. Being able to have someone to rely on to help you study or remember impromptu assignments given in class makes the struggle more bearable because you have someone to help you get by. A key thing to remember is to not be afraid to put yourself out there when you first arrive on campus, making yourself available to new friendships is the best way to get to know your fellow peers and that's what's going to make the year memorable!!

If you crave intellectual conversations, wordly peers, and a modicum of manners then Bucknell is not for you. Some of the professors have no social graces either. If I say thank you, I am looked at like a freak. This is a HUGE party school, but their famous saying: Work hard, play hard is a fabrication. No one on my hall does any schoolwork until the night before an exam. The average grade on exams in my current classes is a C; I know this because my professors who give exams share the range.

VISIT CAMPUS! I didn't really think much of Bucknell before I visited--it was just another school on my college road trip--but, wow, did they leave an impression! It may seem like just another school, but you really don't know until you visit. It was probably my most influential college visit.
