    What to do for fun

Bunker Hill is the only community college with a radio station of its own, join the club! It has several areas all over the campus that give chill out vibes, arcade/racket ball table and music!

    Food and Dining

The food is really good, they offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Healthy meals, and other things if healthy doesnt appeal to you lol. The dining area actually has a beautiful view outlooking some of the city and its great area to meet new peers.

    Dorm Life

Sadly there arent any dorms! BUT they do have an office committed to helping students find apartments/roommates. Even give you a loan to pay your rent.

    Academic Rigor

The professors are willing to mold around their students capabilities and even willing to challenge them to exceed academic expectations and I love that.

    Tips for prospective students

Schedule your classes around your life! Get involved in anything youre interested in... or maybe even start your own club!

    In three sentences

Bunker Hill is an amazing and innovative school. Its accessible to so much for a community college, yet runs smoothly like a huge university. I love it as start into my higher education!

    Campus Safety

A school that offers night and weekend classes must be safe for a person to consider attending. When I took a few courses that ended late at night, I was relieved to find patrol cars in the areas between the parking lot and entrance of the school, as well as security cameras located in these areas too. The campus officers are friendly but aware, and I definitely felt safe around them!

    Greek Life

Since it's a two year school with no dorms, there are no fraternities or sororities that I'm aware of.

    Clubs and Activities

As someone who started at this school without a clue about college life, if it weren't for BHCC having amazing extracurriculars and student-led organizations, I probably wouldn't have been so successful there. Any student, current or alumni, is open to BHCC's clubs and activities. Current students have the opportunity to be as involved or not involved as they want - each club has their own specific rules, but a student may become an officer or president of a club or just stop by a few times a month at their leisure.

Great for these types of students

The best part about BHCC is it's great for everyone - it's so diverse that it's hard to NOT find your place here. If you like music or video games, there's an entire lounge for you. Want to study and be left alone? The librarians do not tolerate any more than a whisper at the school's library. Even if you just want a place to relax and charge your phone without worrying about a thing, there's lounges inside and out with plently of outlet space.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

If you like to play piano, there is a spot in the A building where you can play in private and have a lovely view of the Zakim bridge in Boston. Just below it is an even cooler private spot called the Dungeon - use it to do yoga, play music, or just about anything else where no one (should) bother you!

    Bang for the buck

As a community college, BHCC is a great deal for any student with any educational goal. Not only is the price per credit low, but BHCC has a great reputation among those who reside in the area as being the best deal out of all the local community colleges. Attending BHCC gives you an opportunity to be part of the MassTransfer program, which gets Massachusetts residents a large tuition discount and automatic acceptance to select Mass state schools!

    What to do for fun

My favorite part of BHCC was being part of the Music Club. I got to perform on campus and meet tons of musicians. If you want to have fun at this school, definitely join a club! The school has a designated activity period (Tuesdays and Thurdsays from 1:00-2:15) during which no classes are held and classrooms are available for student club use. There are dozens of clubs ranging from music, art, entrepreneurship, radio, honors, and more.

    Food and Dining

BHCC has 3 dining options: the FAME Cafe, the cafeteria, and the culinary arts dining room. If you're around at the right time, the culinary arts dining room is open for guests to dine on fine meals made by culinary students at the school. This is usually where the best food is. The FAME Cafe is more of a convenient store, along with pizza and soup and a daily hot option. Lastly, the cafeteria is probably the least appealing option - it's pretty much a high school cafeteria, but with a fryer and a longer line.

    Dorm Life

This is not applicable, since there are no dorms at BHCC.

    Academic Rigor

I was surprised to find that there are more than dozens of amazing professors at BHCC. Many of my professors were enthusiastic about office hours and also were open to independent studies. The most difficult classes were mathematics, since the school uses an online program for homework and tests. The website can be tricky, but nearly all of my mathematics professors were great at helping me out with them during and after class.

    Tips for prospective students

Get engaged in the community and with your classmates and professors. Find a club that interests you and discover opportunities in and outside of school. Join one of the honors programs to graduate with honors or as a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Take a class in visual arts, culinary arts, or music, since BHCC offers amazing courses in these areas of study that can count as electives towards your degree!

    In three sentences

BHCC is a large and diverse school with lots of hidden opportunities. If you want to earn a degree as well as get acquainted with college life, this is a great school for you! Great places to explore are Student Activities, the Library, and the LifeMap Commons!

    Food and Dining

The cafeteria food is alright. Across the mini bridge there is a 99 restaurant, Papa Ginos, Johnnies Foodmaster, CVS, and more. You just have to walk around a little. On the other side there is a huger bridge that you can either walk on or take the MBTA to Lechmere and go to the Galleria Mall in Cambridge and eat the food there.

    Dorm Life

There are no dorms at this college. Most students live in Boston or anywhere that the MBTA can transport them to college. Other students still live at home.

    Academic Rigor

    Food and Dining

The food here is great. Along with the regular staff at bhcc, twice a week the students in the Culinary Arts field prepare gourmet food for students. The food is very diverse and there are also annual events students host where there's food free of charge to the entire school.

    Dorm Life

The down side to community college is the fact that there are no dorms. Yet, its conveniently located off of the MBTA Orange Line route so the commute to and from school is easy.

    Academic Rigor

    Campus Safety

Safety has never been a main concern at our school. There's always guards strolling the Main Campus to make sure faculty and students are safe.

    Clubs and Activities

African-American Club, Real Life Club, WBCC Radio, Latin-American Club, BHCC Men's and Women's Soccer Team, BHCC Men's Basketball, the list goes on!

Great for these types of students

Commuters, single parents, or people that don't financially have the money to start at a 4-year school, but can afford Community College.

    Bang for the buck

BHCC has one of the BEST tuitions in the state of Massachusetts. Classes are currently around $430, for 1 (in-state tuition), 3 credit class.

    What to do for fun

There are dozens of student activities, and more club/organizations are being added each semsester. Even if you can't attend any of these clubs, you will definitely make friends w/your classmates and be able to meet for a dinner study group or coffee outside of class!!! :D

    Food and Dining

The food at BHCC is okay. The best place to get food at BHCC is when the Culinary Arts program has their semester-long lunch/dinner program, where for $6-$8 you get a 3 course meal that the students learn to make in the CA program.

    Dorm Life

Unfortunately, BHCC does not have dorms, so most students either live w/roomates, live on their own, or live w/their families.

    Academic Rigor

The professors here TRULY care about their students. The staff take time out of their schedules to meet with you and answer any questions or concerns you may have via: in-person meeting, email, phone, or text. BHCC also is the first college in the nation to offer Midnight Classes for those w/crazy schedules.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure you get everything cleared w/Financial Aid and Admissions before exploring class options, student activities, etc. Going through FA first will save you heartache in the long run. Also, if you are eligible, join the Success/TRiO program. You will find opportunities in this program you won't find anywhere else at BHCC.

    In three sentences

Being a BHCC student has changed my life. I transferred to BHCC from out of state. Trasferring to BHCC was one of the best decisions I ever made.
