It sucks if you do not have a car because you cannot get far besides using the Sprinter. If you do use the train (which is a 5 minute walk away from campus), you're going to have to do some walking. This school just has a lot of walking overall! It's great though because the farthest stop going north is Oceanside Beach which is chill. My roommates and I usually use an Uber or Lyft to get around and it depends what you are into, but there are a bunch of fun places to go. The mall is about 15-20 minutes away and Downtown SD is about 40 minutes away. This isn't a heavy party school, so don't expect anything to be extremely lit unless you throw one yourself.

There are SO many activities! There is always something going on during U-Hour, which is an hour twice a week that there are no classes scheduled and many clubs come and set up booths! There are lots of clubs to participate in. As well as many events hosted by the school to get everyone involved! There are also sororities and fraternities that a large amount of students are involved with. And of course there are sports, both club and collegiate.

Hang out with friends, visit nearby cities, attend sporting events and go to the beach!

I hang out with my roommates and we play pool down in the game room, mini golf on the on campus golf course, working out in the gym, and we play video games up in our dorm.

The beach is about 12 minutes away. Other than that you will have to make the drive to San Diego (anywhere from 45 to an hour and a half with traffic).
