Like I mentioned elsewhere, there are outlets for every hobby around here. As a singer, I have spent a lot of my time jamming out with fellow musicians or spending alone time in practice rooms. For athletes, the gym and weight room facilities are always available and convenient, and I know many of my friends frequently enjoy using what is available there. Pittsburgh is also generally a nice place to explore, but there is definitely enough to do on campus that venturing off-campus isn't even really necessary.

I play water polo (traveling to tournaments is funded by CMU) and I am a part of Global Medical Brigades (we travel to Central American countries every spring break and set up free medical clinics for the community).

You can code, paint, draw, do math, do physics, sing, act, or anything else you would be doing as part of your actual work.

There is a giant mall about 45 minutes away from campus. Museums and the conservatory are free to CMU students. Also, transportation is free, so nowhere is off limits.

Pittsburgh is one of the most boring cities I've been in, especially if you're trapped in one section of it. Try to visit museums and downtown, and eat out if you want to try and enjoy it, and even then, the busing system can be excruciating. There is a mall with plenty to do close by, however. Hanging out with friends there is a good choice.

Study. JK. Pittsburgh is an awesome city that has a lot to do. There's the Waterfront, Southside and the Strip where many shopping and activities are, as well as downtown. For sports fans, you have the home of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Penguins, two of the most successful teams in their respective sport. On campus, there are a myriad of activities that can match your interest. And then there's buggy. Glorious buggy.

There's plenty to do in Pittsburgh, parties on weekends, and parties at PITT on weekdays if you're into that

Pittsburgh is a really great city. You can explore the different sectors such as the strip district, the cultural district, etc. There are many restaurants within walking distance from campus. The buses make it pretty easy to get around also. As a student, there are many things you can do for free around pittsburgh.
