A prestigious university that's strong in all departments, such as business, engineering, computer science, and the arts. Located in an up-and coming city, CMU is lively and entertaining for a college student looking for a small town feel. Academics are rigorous but extremely rewarding.

Carnegie Mellon is a factory like school, and for many can be overwhelming. It is important to know what you want to do, and as you progress, that industriousness can be molded into passion as you see fit. CMU is good for the ambitious students or students who want to it all. A lot of the majors here, especially those in the Dietrich College of Humanities and Social Sciences, are interdepartmental and even cross majors. The cost can be pretty steep and students having to take a short leave of absence due to stress is not uncommon.
