cpcc is great, with small classes, two free gyms, and classes on every subject i've ever heard of. the staff are always helpful and informative. they offer classes to fit your schedule from 8:30 am to 10:00 pm m-f and online. and with five campuses it is convenunt travel wise.
Tips for prospective students
talk to a counselor before signing up for classes every semester and tell him/her exactly what you are trying to accomplish with your college carrier, especially if you are using financial aid, because there are so many classes and options you could easily get sidetracked and run out of financial aid.
Academic Rigor
the administration has instituted a program that requires all classes to strengthen a students skills in math, writing, or science to help prepare students for their careers.
Dorm Life
there are no dorms, i live at home so definitely 5 stars.
Food and Dining
depends which campus your at. the levine campus has a subway.
What to do for fun
depends on which campus your at, and the day.
there's two gyms, student life has something going on almost every other day. and central campus is in downtown charlotte so theirs allot to do there all the time.
Bang for the buck
community college tution is the same as all community colleges in the area so about $1200 for 5 3-classes. not including books.
Great for these types of students
anyone who likes to have no more than 34 students in a class.
and/or needs to take classes for work, their own enrichment, an associates degree, or to transfer to a four-year university.
Campus Safety
4 out of 5 campuses are completely safe.
central however is in downtown charlotte, combine that with night classes and the need for some students to carry around laptops, smart phones, ipods, and other expensive gadgets. results in about one mugging every other month, which isn't that bad considering their are 70,000 students at cpcc as of spring 2012.

CPCC is convenient, relaxed, and definitely the way to go! Every campus is clean and fresh-looking, and the students are diverse and friendly. Professors of all areas will do their best to help you succeed not only in the class but in life.
Tips for prospective students
Get involved! Join Student Government, go to movie nights that the Theatre Department holds, make friends with classmates, etc. Also, apply for financial aid! CPCC scholarships are easy to win.
Academic Rigor
This depends on the class and professor you have, but I would say CPCC has a rigorous academic system. It will challenge you, but make you grow in the process!
Dorm Life
Being a community college, there are no on-campus dorms.
Food and Dining
Each campus has healthy options for food. My campus has a Subway right outside my classroom, and even a little food stand with juices, coffee, and pastries. Very inexpensive but great for a snack between classes!
What to do for fun
CPCC is almost always holding a various festival (like GeekFest!). There are also numerous art exhibits and theatre performances at the Central location (uptown).
Bang for the buck
Definitely worth your money! I have saved so much money going to CPCC rather than going to a 4-year college or university.
Great for these types of students
Great for anyone who likes big schools! Also good for someone who might be more independent academically, and someone who would want to go to school close to home (they have campuses all over town).
Clubs and Activities
So many to choose from!
Campus Safety
Campus safety is always available to walk you to your car after a late night class. My school is also great about sending out safety alert updates when there has been a crime on or around campus.

Tips for prospective students
Take your professor's classes as seriously as they take their students. You never know when they will be willing to hand out extra credit, or even a reference for an internship!
Academic Rigor
The teachers at CPCC have been mostly published, and take their work extremely seriously. They also give every student an equal chance at success, as long as the student is willing to take notes and listen. Never be afraid to ask a question, my teachers love hearing what their students are questioning to further help their understanding of a topic or subject.
Dorm Life
No apartments exist on the campus, yet, but if there were, the college life would feel even more rigorous in an amazing way.
Food and Dining
Both healthy and not-so-healthy options exist on campus, so one is never going to worry about their health or go hungry on campus.
What to do for fun
I enjoyed going to live performances in the theater, and also their documentary screenings, which most of the time meant extra credit opportunities if a student mentioned it to a professor of the respective subject.
Bang for the buck
You can take fast-paced classes over the summer for a third of the cost at a public/private university, and I highly suggest taking as many classes as you can! My AA in Arts is exempting me from having to take any more math/science/foreign language classes at UNCC, and I couldn't be any more happy that I was able to network with skilled professionals, and also save myself money.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus
Sometimes, the campus students hold a protest, or bring petitions to the other students' attention, and it is so educational and fun to get involved in, (within reason).
Great for these types of students
CPCC is great for anyone questioning what field they are thinking of starting a career in; students looking to save money but still be educated with quality; students looking for a degree in a specific trade.
Clubs and Activities
There are more clubs on this campus than I expected before enrolling, and I made sure to take advantage of whatever sparked my interest.
Greek Life
Though there isn't an active Greek Life, there are still clubs pertaining to Hellenistic lifestyles.
Campus Safety
I never felt wary of my safety, but always take precautions. Being near a major city, within walking distance, is always something to keep in mind on any campus.
