Something that CNU prides itself upon is the fact that its classes are small. On average a class will have 25 students in it, which encourages students to interact with their professors and makes it much easier to obtain help when it is needed. Professors are able to do things more hands-on with each student which makes it simple and a lot more fun to learn than in a lecture-based class.

Christopher Newport is one of the few schools that allows you to have a more personal relationship with your professors and faculty due to the small sized population (about 5,000 students). We have a speaking tradition here at CNU, which means we hold the door for everyone, make eye contact and be friendly. CNU will make you feel apart of something and not lost in the crowd.

  • Aug-28-2015 I am researching this school and have visited the campus

In only the past couple of years, Christopher Newport has made major improvements in its academic rigor as well as its campus, and, according to President Trible, it will only get better from here. The freshmen dorms are unusually large, the classes are small, the food selection seems more than satisfactory, and the buildings, beautiful on the inside and out, have a certain professional quality that says we all mean business. It seems to possess every element that a success-bound student should ever need; the only thing missing, from a swimmer's perspective, is its own pool, but the nearest one is only five minutes away.

Christopher Newport University is a wonderful university - with a beautiful campus, small class sizes, and professors who have the desire to know who you are as an individual. The classes are not taught by graduate students or teacher aids, which ensures students will receive a top notch education. The university is small, but it is big enough to have a variety of clubs and organizations.

One of the best colleges nobody has ever heard of. Their buildings are even rented by the community because they have the best stuf.

The campus of Christopher Newport University is beyond beautiful, and continuously growing. The faculty at the school helps students to the best of their ability, and shows a great concern for each student academic ability. The students of CNU are very friendly, and up holds the tradition of saying hello to someone passing them.

CNU is a flourishing campus complete with state-of-the-art facilites and high-rated professors. Students and professors form a tight-knit community with a sense of cooperation and friendliness between them. A pleasing environment with manicured lawns, outdoor chairs, and brick-paved walkways.

If you have ever heard President Trible speak you know exactly what the CNU experience is like. You will be part of an intimate community that is just large enough for everyone but small enough that no one goes unnoticed. It is the perfect college experience in my opinion and I would not trade it for the world.
