City College of San Francisco offers a wide variety of classes, and, as such, it might be difficult for a prospective student to know which ones to choose from for his or her major. I would advise using as much of the available resources as possible such as the Learning Assistance Center (LAC), The Writing Success Program (WSP), The Tulay Program, The African American Scholastic Program, etc. These programs offer tutoring and hands on advice that helped me to get through my first two semesters with a 4.0. I would also advise to use RATEMYPROFESSOR.com when choosing your teachers because while most of the teachers here are great, there are a few that can be a little unreasonable.

Take general education classes before focusing on a major unless you are sure you want to major in that. Take to a counselor to figure out what classes you need so you don't waste your time taking a class you don't need to graduate or for your major.
