Beware the administration. The professors are amazing, but you need to know how to deal with the administration when it comes to getting refunds for classes or something. When dealing with them, be polite, but firm - you can easily get told to call someone else - stand your ground, and be demanding, but polite. There are quite a lot of classes and different sections that meet at different times, which is great, but make sure they're all at the same campus, or if they aren't, that you'll have enough time to commute. Textbooks can be expensive, so wait until the first day to buy them - or email professors beforehand to see if there is another way to get them - look online, check the site for the actual textbook - digital only versions can be a lot cheaper, students will also post bulletin notes saying what books they have for sale.

If your looking for a school that has extracurricular activity's and a great sports program, then this is the school for you. I found that all the students who attend have dreams to pursue and obtain with classes that give credit to them. If you need help on campus more than three quarters of the student body are willing to explain in dept the importance of how their job can shape the community.

City College of San Francisco offers a wide variety of classes, and, as such, it might be difficult for a prospective student to know which ones to choose from for his or her major. One tip that I would recommend is to always make good use of the counseling services available on campus, mainly if you are unsure of what kind of classes you are supposed to take.

I would advise using as much of the available resources as possible such as the Learning Assistance Center (LAC), The Writing Success Program (WSP), The Tulay Program, The African American Scholastic Program, etc. These programs offer tutoring and hands on advice that helped me to get through my first two semesters with a 4.0. I would also advise to use when choosing your teachers because while most of the teachers here are great, there are a few that can be a little unreasonable.
