Be sure to meet with an academic advisor before term starts so that you are taking only the classes that you need to move on. I'd recommend avoiding taking classes based on a major or "for fun," as the quicker you get the credits for your AA, the quicker you can transfer out.

Have a plan for where you want to go and how fast you want to get there. The transfer programs are very loose, so it's easy to get sidetracked. There's no set structure like there is at 4 year schools so you need to do the work if you want to transfer out in 2 years or less.

find out who the counselors are and be in their face all the time. Eventually if you bother them enough they are more straightforward with you. Some Teachers are just awful, and there's nothing you can do about it except file a legitimate complaint. if enough people are truly upset for honest reasons other than they just gave me a bad grade you could really do something for other students. the cafeteria is where the most people hang out and the best place to make friends in my personal opinion.

To any prospective students I leave for you three things to keep in mind. First, don't allow yourself to be distracted. Second, if you need a job I suggest looking to work on-campus (all the info you need is online). Last piece of advice would be to keep your overall goal in check i.e if you want to transfer to a 4 yr university then keep in constant contact with your advisors so you can always know what is ahead of you

Apply early to gain priority registration because classes go very quickly. There are no dorms so apartment with cheap rates or shared commons are available near achool. An if attending carpool ,parking is difficult especially on the first day.
