The amount of learning that takes place in one semester at Columbia is truly amazing. I have learned more in such a short period of time than I would have ever thought possible. As much as we may all complain about how extensive the Core Curriculum is, it really is one of the aspects that makes a Columbia education so unique. I love sitting in my Lit Hum class, surrounded by students majoring in literature, physics, anthropology, math, and even the engineering students, discussing the literary merits of Lysistrata and the Epic of Gilgamesh. Aside from...

When i was younger i thought columbia was only for people who would like to pursue a career in law....i was wrong. Columbia university offers more than criminal law, you guys offer medicine, business , and etc. I think this university is a challenge to get into but i love challenges because there is always a 50/50 chance of you winning or losing and ive lost at times but i have also won. So would you rather give up on something or at least say you tried....Thats what i believe Columvia University is about.

Columbia is one of if not the top school I would like to get into but it is also my reach school however from what I researched if you have decent enough grades and test scores but write an amazing essay you could have a high chance of getting accepted sine others did the same with other schools held in a higher light I'm hoping I may get lucky.

Columbia, to me, is somewhere where I can go anytime to focus on work, to hang out with friends at cafe 212, or practice my piano at Lerner. In other words, before I even applied, I easily made Columbia my second home.

Columbia is an amazing place for those who are not only highly motivated and curious, but also for those who want to make the most of their years in college. Columbia has so much to offer, but students who are naturally open-minded and proactive will be able to have the best experience there.

Columbia seems like a fantastic school for a very specific type of student. If you have a specialist type of personality (as in, if you're someone who enjoys going really deeply into one subject), the core curriculum that it emphasizes (you have to take at least 9 classes in all the core disciplines before graduating) may not be for you. However, personally, as a more generalist type of person, I really look forward to applying here!

It seems like an awesome place to be. If I were accepted here, I would be so extremely honored. Columbia seems extremely rigorous, but also extremely involved.

Between the Common Core and the city of New York, it is difficult to conceive of an education more intellectually stimulating than that which Columbia provides. The Core allows students to engage with the great thinkers of the past, while New York City provides a wealth of cultural opportunities both historically oriented and contemporary. The result is an environment which enables students to conceive and accomplish important work.

As a first-year at Columbia, my experience with its traditions and subtleties is limited, but the administration does well with creating a sense of identity even though Columbia is right in the middle of a busy and diverse city. Many students seem stressed about their various workloads, but it is very much a school where you get the experience you create. The academics are amazing; the sports less so. Overall, it is a fantastic place to live and learn.

Columbia is a beautiful school with an amazing campus. It's urban, with a wonderful combination of cultural diversity and history, with many modern aspects. The only thing I do not love about it is the price tag.
