The amount of learning that takes place in one semester at Columbia is truly amazing. I have learned more in such a short period of time than I would have ever thought possible. As much as we may all complain about how extensive the Core Curriculum is, it really is one of the aspects that makes a Columbia education so unique. I love sitting in my Lit Hum class, surrounded by students majoring in literature, physics, anthropology, math, and even the engineering students, discussing the literary merits of Lysistrata and the Epic of Gilgamesh. Aside from...

The campus is absolutely beautiful! Their focus on the Core Curriculum is great if that's something you're looking for. Most importantly, it's in New York!

Columbia University is a school with a smaller community feel with the benefits of equal and even greater than colleges with populations three times its size. It is a challenging school that wants you to think and reach far out of your comfort zone. There are so many opportunities at this school that not considering it would be closing a very beautiful door.

It can be the best four years of your life and make all your dreams come true. However, there are MANY obstacles that will try and stop you from achieving this. In this end, it all depends on how forward-thinking, mature, in-the-moment you are and your general outlook of life.

Recently, Columbia administration took action to cancel a long-standing tradition of the famously clever Columbia Marching Band, whose "Orgo Night" show in the main library on the eve of finals week was a highlight of every semester. The university was apparently unhappy with the comic barbs that the band routinely lobbed at university officials during the show and decided to muzzle the band by canceling the performance with only a few days' notice. This does not bode will for free student speech on the Columbia campus.

In the heart of the big apple, Columbia is the place to go for excitement and fun. Columbia is great for students wishing for a big city feel. Located in the upper east side, it has class and sophistication.

Beautiful campus in a beautiful city. Nothing beats NYC and the Columbia campus, but the dorms are slightly dated. That should be taken with a grain of salt, because it balances out.

When i was younger i thought columbia was only for people who would like to pursue a career in law....i was wrong. Columbia university offers more than criminal law, you guys offer medicine, business , and etc. I think this university is a challenge to get into but i love challenges because there is always a 50/50 chance of you winning or losing and ive lost at times but i have also won. So would you rather give up on something or at least say you tried....Thats what i believe Columvia University is about.

Columbia is one of if not the top school I would like to get into but it is also my reach school however from what I researched if you have decent enough grades and test scores but write an amazing essay you could have a high chance of getting accepted sine others did the same with other schools held in a higher light I'm hoping I may get lucky.

Columbia, to me, is somewhere where I can go anytime to focus on work, to hang out with friends at cafe 212, or practice my piano at Lerner. In other words, before I even applied, I easily made Columbia my second home.
