    Campus Safety

Auraria Campus takes safety very seriously, however several accidents have been reported throughout the two school years I have spent there, and especially in the area surrounding East Colfax.

    Bang for the buck

Best community college of the state. It feels much more like a university than a two-year institution.

    Food and Dining

The two main buildings each have their own caf©s but they're nothing special. The food court on Auraria campus has fairly limited options and they are not very healthy, except for a salad bar that offers fresher foods.

    Dorm Life

The Community College of Denver does not offer student housing.

    Academic Rigor

The courses here can be pretty challenging at times, and most of the faculty is very competent and professional. Do not expect to slack just because you are at a community college, as CCD might be more demanding than you expect at first.

    Tips for prospective students

The advising staff is really helpful, so take advantage of that as they will do everything that is in their power to help you succeed both in and out of class.

    In three sentences

It is evident, under a lot of aspects, that CCD is very well funded. They have a vast number of programs compared to most community colleges, the faculty and staff are competent and helpful, and the resources available on campus are very well organized. If you are trying to choose which community college to apply to in the Denver area, this is definitely your best pick.

    Campus Safety

The campus is very informative when it comes to the safety of its students. If applicable, mass emails are sent to the students regarding potential case reports, and follow ups. In addition, the grounds appear appropriately staffed with on campus patrol and cross guards. Thanks boys!

    Greek Life

I am unfamiliar with the greek life on campus, though it appears very active and social. I can only hope they're getting some homework done..

    Clubs and Activities

Many to choose from. Sports, Theatre, Band, Geek Squad...just like High school, only where do you fit in now? The important thing is that you've found yourself, and this is just the first step to the new you. Me personally, I've shown a strong interest in performance and maye may potentially decide on participating with an acting troupe. My recent theatre appreciation classes have been a raging blast.. LAURIE LYNCH ROCKS!

Great for these types of students

    - Students with undeniable vocational skills - Artsy Fartsy students (drama, art, designs) - Students with musical inclinations. - The Stoners - The Disabled - Minorities - Adult Learners - Domestic Students - LGBT Students - Students desiring to transfer to Metro State University (right next door) you'll find it all here.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

those things might take place underneath a nearby bridge or somewhere on campus in a back alleyway, though I'm not 100% certain. I'm only present on campus 2 days of the week yet nothing seems to much of the unordinary.

    Bang for the buck

My professors have been INCREDIBLE! I will say it's been a great experience and worth the cost . the campus is clean, its centrally located, faculty appear happy with their positions and are mainly willing to assist and every now and again go above and beyond. The campus is diversified and beautiful, as are many of the people.

    What to do for fun

Are you kidding? PEOPLE WATCH. Still, within feet of the grounds are the Performing arts complex, The Denver Mint, Elitch's Amusement Park and the 16th street mall, which is frequently deems a clamorous curiosity..

    Food and Dining

Outside of your typical college campus choices, thankful of its proximity, the campus is encompassed by many local and national chain eateries. As an added bonus the light rail transit system rests outside of the schools doors, connecting you to the 16th street mall, which hosts many patio bars, upscale restaurants, fast food chains, hot dog stands, shake shacks, and tons of entertainment to go along with it. If you're on a broke student budget, bring a sack lunch or change for the vending machine.

    Dorm Life

Um, no thanks! love my school though I prefer life off campus. However, if you're looking I heard the Regency is the Hot Spot.

    Academic Rigor

I have to admit that I surprised myself! actually, not that much, because I wanted it. I wanted this time around to apply myself and actually try to listen, learn and adapt. O.K. so you already know what the term homework means. well then take it seriously. If you have an active life outside of school, it's important to leave your studies on the frontburner. Sometimes, popularity has to be sacrificed. For those who might consider themselves socially unpolished, with all the technologies of today, there should be of no reason why you cannot remain connected to your progress online, meet your deadlines and most wise and importantly interact with your professors and other classmates about assignments or projects you're unsure of. SPEAK UP! Oh, and be prepared to WRITE. WRITE. WRITE.

    Tips for prospective students

As it cannot be stressed enough, first and foremost, get your Financial Aid together. yes, I know, the thought of having to fill out lengthy applications, fight with automated voice messaging systems just to talk to every possible individual in the call center is going to leave your head pounding, but once you've initially applied and been granted your benefits, it comes pretty easy thereafter.

    In three sentences

Enrolling as a non traditional student/adult learner can prove intimidating, frustrating and not to mention frustrating, especially when you've been out of an academic school over 15 years. The good news is that the statistics have shown that adult learners are on the rise at school campuses..whew! Now I can roll around the campus amidst the pool of twenty-somethings, reliving the days of my high school youth with confidence. Otherwise, the Community College of Denver is where I knew I wanted to start out at. Unfortunately all those years ago when I enrolled, it wasn't for me. this time I have really taken in the experience from my very soft-spoken yet accommodating counselor Vickie who talked me up from the start and saw much potential in me, to the enduring cafeteria works who always have a smile on their face to greet me for my morning breakfast sandwich. I gleefully continue on this journey.

Great for these types of students

If you are returning to school after a long period of time or fresh out of high school, this school will show you the beginning to a new life. Even better for those like me transferring to a 4 year college later, completing 2 years here first saves tons of money and CCD has many transferable credits.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

If you are a first year student the Confluence building will be your best friend. There is a great little Starbucks/sandwich shop downstairs. A few vending machines and microwaves as well as the most important people your first year counselors.

    Bang for the buck

Signing up was the hardest part. Once you get to the campus every possible resource you will need is at hand. Everyone is friendly and I truly feel I am learning.

    What to do for fun

The parks on campus are extremely nice, but I love that its in the heart of downtown Denver so there is so much off campus activities too.

    Food and Dining

There is a building called the Tivoli and inside there is fast food, sit down dining and even a bar upstairs.

    Dorm Life

I don't live on campus, however the campus has its own food court, bar, parks and beautiful scenery.

    Academic Rigor

I am always trying my best. I enjoy being at the top of my class. I was devastated that one final I didn't do very well on lowered my 4.0 GPA I maintained all semester.

    Tips for prospective students

Fill out every line on every piece of paper for any application. Ask millions of questions, if you don't know ask, someone will. Take it serious but have fun learning.

    In three sentences

A great place for going back to school after a long time has passed since high school. The teachers are wonderful and very willing to go above and beyond to make sure you understand. Tons of on site resources available on this huge campus.

    Campus Safety

There always seems to be security available everywhere. I have left after dark before and I called campus security to walk me to my car and within 5 minutes they were at the door of the building, and it gave me such peace of mind that I could call for just a walk to my car.

Great for these types of students

I think that the Community College of Denver is for a student who demands a good education and a wonderful start to college.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

I am currently attending the Lowry Campus and although the buildings are far apart, there is not a lot of travel between buildings.

    Bang for the buck

I believe that for the cost of tuition, the student really is getting what they paid for: a high quality education.

    What to do for fun

There seems to always be an activity going on, especially during fall and spring semesters.

    Food and Dining

There are always good choices as to where and what to eat. They even have a food bank on campus to help students that have a real need for food.

    Dorm Life

I cannot comment on the dorm life as I live off campus, but I know a few students that live in the dorms and they enjoy themselves a lot.

    Academic Rigor

The professors are wonderful and expect that every student excels. The professors do anything and everything in their power to make sure a student learns the materials necessary to pass the class at a high level.

    Tips for prospective students

The best tip I could give is to actually go into the school and ask for help. Do not be afraid to ask anyone and everyone for help. And don't forget to go in early; the earlier the better.

    In three sentences

I would rank the Community College of Denver high on a list of potential colleges because the process to get started was very easy. There are people at every stage to help a student get to where they need to go. It seems as if their unofficial goal is no student left behind and they are there to help at all times.

    Campus Safety

The campus is pretty huge, but police officers or sercurity are always patroling the campus and the buildings. There is a service called night rider that is free of charge to students and staff. The night rider service will pick you up and take you to your car or to another building, and you want have to worry about walking or biking in the night. It is a great service and I used alot when I was taking night classes.

    Bang for the buck

The Community College of Denver tuition is less expensive compared to other community colleges in Colorado. The education that you get from this school is excellent and is worth the money. You get what you paid for. The school's tuition has gone up a bit, but they have been doing a lot of renovation and a new building built that is part of the school. It is nice to have a specific and convenient location for financial aid, admissions, and tutoring center.

    What to do for fun

The Pepsi center and Six flags is a couple of blocks from the school. The 16th street mall is close to the school. There are different night clubs fairly close to campus. On campus there is a lounge center that has pool tables, video games, and a convenient store

    Food and Dining

    Dorm Life

The school does not have dorms. However there are apartments on campus called Auraria campus living. The have a variety of options to choose from and their prices are reasonable. They offer free laundry service, Wi-Fi, cable, and other services to. The apartments are located close to the school.

    Academic Rigor

The school had great professors that teach here. They provide you with the skills, and knowledge that you can apply in the real world. The school offers students options to take classes at Metro state university or at University of Colorado Denver to become familar with taking classes at a unversity and become familar with either of those schools.

    Tips for prospective students

The Community College of Denver offers orientation before each semester. I highly recommend signing up for it. The orientation will provide you with useful information.

    Campus Safety

Campus safety is a complete joke. Every month or two, we would receive an email about someone exposing their self, and the campus police would never catch them. Maybe it would be useful to try and catch criminal offenders, rather than give parking tickets for those who go a minute over their parking meter!

    Greek Life

I think we have two or three frats/sororities..Personally, I've never seen anyone involved in greek life at school.

    Clubs and Activities

    There are few activities.

Great for these types of students

It's great for commuter students that really don't want a social life.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

There really aren't any traditions on campus..besides homecoming I guess. However, no one really attends.

    Bang for the buck

As I said, it is an okay campus. There could be more activities though.

    What to do for fun

Walk around campus...you will always see something entertaining.

    Food and Dining

The food here is okay. You have Taco Bell, McDonalds, Subway, an Asian restaurant, salad bar, a pizza joint, and a other neat places in the student union center.

    Dorm Life

    There are no dorms.

    Academic Rigor

The Community College of Denver is a community college, so it may be necessary to transfer to a 4-year institution if one pursues more than an associate's degree.

    Tips for prospective students

Prospective students should definitely review the ratings of their professor on ratemyprofessor.com before enrolling into a class; it definitely helps.

    In three sentences

The Community College of Denver is an okay institution for those pursing an associates degree, or simply wanting to complete co-requisitites. The Community College of Denver is located on Auraria Campus, which is also home to two other institutions, so there are many people on campus. As a commuter institution, there aren't many social activities year round.

    Campus Safety

The Campus has their own security. Instead of calling the police, you just call the campus security, which are stationed right on campus; quick response time.

Great for these types of students

People who need one on one help with homework, studying, note taking, organization, etc. It is also great for anyone who likes walking in the outdoors in any type of weather. It is a large campus with many walking paths to take to each building. Plus anyone who has no clue what degree they want to go for, or which college you ultimately want to transitions to after you're done at community college.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

There is this building called the Tivoli. which has food stores (restaurants, fast food, etc.), book stores, the campus life offices, as well as where you go get your student ID and such. The Tivoli has a spiral like structure to the staircase, with a space going down the center of the building.

    Bang for the buck

Nothing is really pricey, as far as colleges go. The on campus store is pretty spiffy. They have two floors for the book store, which is where you can buy CCD merchandise, textbooks, etc.

    Food and Dining

I have only ever had their latte's and coffee in the coffee shops they have around campus. So far, it's been a decent experience. Most of the items are fairly pricey, however they have vending machine areas which have a great selection and the prices aren't too high.

    Academic Rigor

Great learning environment with small to large classes, and a decent curriculum as well. The teachers push you to learn, but there is plenty of help if you need it. Just in the first week, I have already learned and re-learned quite a bit.

    Tips for prospective students

Go to the confluence building before you do anything to sign up for college. They can help with any questions you have right off the bat. Bring along a pen and some paper, with a list of questions you might have about signing up, financial aid, etc.

    In three sentences

They made my transition in fairly easy. The staff at the CCD confluence building were friendly and helpful, and answered any questions that I had. The teachers are great as well, as far as I've experienced.

The rec center is great, although I think they should have more swimming times available.

Great for these types of students

I am a non-traditional student, and this is my second time in college. I do not feel out of place on campus and though I am older than most in my classes it is not an uncomfortable experience.

    Bang for the buck

Again I think this is a great location to get some prerequisites done at a cheaper price. The classes are accepted at almost all upper level schools as straight transfers.

    What to do for fun

I have not participated in any functions on campus.

    Food and Dining

I do not find that there are enough healthy choices on campus. They also need a good coffee shop, or maybe I just have not found one yet.

    Academic Rigor

I have been in school before and am a returning student. I work full time and carry a full load, it is hard but manageable, and I am a science major.

    Tips for prospective students

Register early, the classes fill up and the waitlists do not move at all.

    In three sentences

Not a bad school to attend to get prerequisites done without spending too much money. Online course are not as organized and consistent as they could be.

    Large variety of students.

    Bang for the buck

Excellent purchase to attend classes here, the cost is FAR less than a normal college and if you don't know what you want to major in or have a low income, a community college is a good place to start. Also good for wiping out gen eds before transferring to another college.

    What to do for fun

The student activities board presents activities but since most students live off campus most students seems to have their own lives rather than a close knit community.

    Food and Dining

Mediocre at best, various hot dog stands scatttered around campus and the tivoli center houses the food court, however in this case food court refers to 4 very average fast food restaurants...

    Dorm Life

I have never lived or visited the dorms but the living price is reasonable and only 2-3 blocks away from campus.

    Academic Rigor

Classes vary depending on what you attend and what major you choose to pursue. Teachers also teach classes differently so choose professors wisely! Google rate my professor and websites will come up that rate professors based on students reviews. CCD offers incredibly simple classes to very rigorous classes so it has a wide range!

    Tips for prospective students

Cheap, has a flexible amount of classes for anyones schedule, whether you want weekend classes, online classes, or ten classes CCD has excellent choices. Just apply early! Take the lightrail downtown to avoid traffic and parking.

    In three sentences

Classes average from 20-25 kids, even the 101 classes. Teachers have been extremely consistent and passionate about their majors, many of the students are motivated and seem interested in the classes being attended. Relatively small campus considering it shares the campus with UCD and MSU.

The community College of Denver is not only located downtown where there are the Denver police if there is a situation, but we also have our own police. Our Auria police's building is located on campus and will respond to a special phone number or phone that is located around campus in case of an emergency. When something happens on campus every student is informed by email so they can be aware of what is going on around campus.

    Clubs and Activities

There are a lot of clubs at C.C.D. My friend just recently started an environmentalist group that helps protect the environment. There are also other groups that play sports like basket ball, volley ball, soccer, and more.

Great for these types of students

The Community College of Denver is a great school for any student who is determined in getting a degree or transferring.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

On top of the library and computer labs there are a variety of fountains and parks you can study or get together with friends at.

    Bang for the buck

The Community College of Denver is a not only a fun environment to learn in, but the professor's are also very nice. So if you do not understand what to do on an assignment you can ask and they will explain it. If you are having trouble out side of class you can just send them an email and they will reply as soon as they can. This helps to ensure that you always are on top of your game. You will never feel like the person that does not know what they are doing.

    What to do for fun

For fun me and my friends help each other study. We build support groups to help each other get through subjects we struggle with and help tutor each other when one of us is better at a subject. Aside from studying there is always a new event going on around campus.

    Food and Dining

The food is mainly located in the Tivoli Student union. Our food consists of a variety of different food places similar to a food court. I have heard from a few people that the Pizza place located next to the Career Center is on of the best places to eat, although I have never been.

    Dorm Life

At C.C.D we do not have dorms, but I prefer that. I prefer not to live in a dorm because I have a few friends that have lived in dorms and negative things have come from it like drama, lack of sleep, and partying instead of studying. These things have all lead to my friends having lower grades.

    Academic Rigor

At C.C.D the classes are not just lecture after lecture. The professors work hard to provide the students with a challenging curriculum to engage the students with their lessons. This helps the students get involved with their work and learn it rather then listen and memorize it.

    Tips for prospective students

Something I would want to tell prospective students is that going to a University might seem more fun, but it isn't always the right way to go about obtaining a higher education. One quality C.C.D has that a University does not is it is affordable. This is important because people that start college and are eager to get a degree may not always be able to afford it.

    In three sentences

I think the Community College of Denver is an excellent place to further your education. C.C.D has a friendly environment which make it easy to meet new people on campus and try new things. An other unique quality the Community College of Denver has is that it is located on the same campus as Metropolitan and U.C.D. which give us different opportunities then a typical community college.

It's a college campus in the middle of a large metro area. That said, campus safety is fine - even fantastic - in the day time. At night, you're best staying in well-lit places. Luckily, Auraria Campus allows you to carry a licensed firearm for self-defense at nights.

    Greek Life

There are no mainstream fraternities to speak of. There are some honors societies - but having lived next to the biggest University in Florida for some years, I can safely say there's no real Greek Life.

    Clubs and Activities

CCD has a lot of extracurricular clubs and activities. Since I work full-time as well as go to school full-time, I don't get a lot of free time. But this Fall I'm getting more involved in the Confucius Institute and the international studies students. By this time next year, I hope to be visiting or studying abroad in China!

Great for these types of students

Although I see a lot of young students, some fresh out of high school, I have personally found out that CCD is great for returning students. I'm in my mid 30's, but I don't feel left behind. Also the option of online courses allows me continue to work and pay bills for my family.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Not being available to join many extracurricular activities, I'm not too informed on local campus traditions. My favorite location, though, is down on the bike trail, which is sunken below an incredibly busy street and the entire downtown district. It gives you the opportunity to relax, refresh and reset with your feet in a creek between the crush of school and work.

    Bang for the buck

CCD has got to be one of the most useful community colleges I've ever seen. With General Education courses, you can get lost in the crowd - but the professors in your core studies will always learn your name.

    What to do for fun

CCD has a lot of intramural sports. It's also next to the largest performing arts center in Colorado. And it shares a parking lot with Elitch Gardens amusement park.

    Food and Dining

The Tivoli Center has a small food court - but CCD is three blocks away from the 16th Street Mall, which features a variety of restaurants, Food Trucks and street vendors. Also, if the vending machines eat your money - go to the Tivoli Center and get an instant refund.

    Dorm Life

I don't believe CCD offers housing. Regardless, I live just off-campus. There's plenty of nice low-rent apartments in the immediate area. And if not, the Auraria Campus is at the hub of the Denver Metro Mass Transit.

    Academic Rigor

Just because the courses are online doesn't mean you can wait til finals week. You're expected to contribute to the collective progress of class, but its more like a Reddit forum than just a bunch of emails. Same participation requirement, but you can do it in your underwear.

    Tips for prospective students

Parking is scarce and expensive - buy a bike, take the light rail or get a scooter. Get every shred of paperwork done at least 30 days prior to the start of the semester, people die of old age waiting in line at the Registrar's and Financial Aid office until drop/add is over. Look up cultural freebies offered by the Auraria Campus; I take a Tai Chi class and a conversation Chinese class - all for free.

    In three sentences

Thus far, I take my Gen Ed online and only my core classes in design on campus. The design school has very well trained staff and cutting edge technology. A professional architect I met downtown even said the Design School at CCD is better than the Graduate Program across the street at CU Denver.

    Bang for the buck

Great option for a college student on a budget who is trying to improve their lives and career options.

    In three sentences

Community College of Denver offers a variety of feasible classes and programs available to diverse students with varying learning needs. Everyone looks out for each other, but aside from that there are emergency phones everywhere on campus.

Not much experience here, but they are always recruiting since Metro and CU are all on the same campus.

    Clubs and Activities

Everything from Snowboarding, Rock Climbing to Chess clubs. There are activities for every kind of student.

Great for these types of students

Great for social students and anyone who wants to transfer to Metro or CU since they're on the same campus as CCD.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

The campus is filled with historic sites from the first settlers who came here during the Gold Rush.

    Bang for the buck

Great prices, so it's a good inexpensive start before transferring to a four year college.

    What to do for fun

The theater on campus is always showing great indie films and documentaries. There's also a hangout room with pool tables and other games. The campus is also a short walk from Denver's major stadiums, so it's easy to go to a Rockies, Broncos, Nuggets or Avalanche game.

    Food and Dining

There are several kiosks around campus that offer quick bites. I also love that the vending machines on campus also offer healthy options. The main dining hall in the Tivoli offers many choices for whatever your hungry for.

    Dorm Life

Although I haven't experienced this from CCD, I have heard nothing but good things about it.

    Academic Rigor

There are courses for all levels, and if you're excelling in a particular area, some of the staff offer extra work to provide more of a challenge in their class.

    Tips for prospective students

Get to know the staff, and use all of the tools and programs available so it'll be easy to succeed.

    In three sentences

CCD has an excellent teaching staff who are dedicated to helping students succeed. The school is filled with students of all ages and ethnicity, and this gives the school a real sense of community. There is a large number of classes during the day, evening, and online, so it's easy to go to school with any hectic schedule.

    Food and Dining

CCD does not have a dorm style cafeteria but the food sold is a part of the Auraria campus cafeterias. The food ranges from a food court style eating area to individual restaurants.

    Dorm Life

There are no dorms that are associated with any of the college on the Auraria campus but there are dorm type options, such as the Regency. All of these dorm type housing options are much too expensive and you would be better off getting a few friends together and renting a house in the Denver area.

    Academic Rigor

CCD provides competitive work compared to other colleges. CCD is able to give a more personal feel than big colleges as many of their classes, specially science classes, are smaller.

    In three sentences

CCD is a great stepping stone to larger institutions. Since Auraria Campus is shared by CCD, MSCD, and UCD you get a feeling of being a part of a big institution unlike other community colleges. CCD also has partnerships with 4 year colleges/university to make the transition easy.

    Campus Safety

There helpful but since it is a huge campus be careful where you walk. They could only do so much. One way they keep everyone safe is sending out alerts through email.

    Bang for the buck

Really cheap for residents and great opportunities for them. Also, attending events that allow you to see famous speakers and authors for free. However, can be expensive for out-state students.

    What to do for fun

Sometime there are promotions of clubs and organizations that give out free food and stuff.

    Food and Dining

They have good areas to eat. For example the Tivoli. The Tivoli has a lot of place to eat. Ranging from McDonald's to subway to Asian cuisine. However, it is not the best thing in the world. For instance the McDonald's fries in the Tivoli taste weird. There are food trucks if your looking for something different to eat but the prices are somewhat expensive.

    Academic Rigor

Passable classes. Depending on the teacher you have Courses can be easy.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure you know where you are going because this area holds three campuses. Do not be late for class. Enjoy the events that they put on.

    In three sentences

This community college is a great school for those who are looking for a way to raise their GPA. Good place to transfer from. Faculty especially from the First Generation office in the South building are willing to help.

For those who must walk to their cars alone at night, there is a night rider service. If you call, they will pick you up at whatever building you are in and take you to your car anywhere on campus. Additionally, the campus police respond quickly to calls, they keep you up to date on any disturbances on campus via email or text, and have multiple locations on campus. Lastly, they have emergency call stations set all over campus and parking lots.

    Clubs and Activities

We have many clubs and organizations. We have a sustainable campus organization that is striving hard to improve conditions of our campus and reduce our impact on the environment. We have a very active theater club and the Confucius Institute puts on beautiful cultural shows.

Great for these types of students

Anyone pursuing a 2 year degree will find this college is a great place to start out. Being a college that shares a campus with 2 other colleges, MSCD and UCD, it provides an opportunity for easy transfer to 4 year institutions.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

We are the City Hawks. Occasionally the mascot appears around campus; it is good for school pride, if not a few chuckles. Also, spring fling and fall fest happen during the semesters, giving students the opportunity to sample local vender's food and other offerings. It is a great resource opportunity.

    Bang for the buck

Find out what events are going on on campus. These will lead to further opportunities, anywhere from free lunch to educational and career opportunities.

    What to do for fun

There are many presentations and high profile speakers that come to campus. These are not only educational but fun. Many times free food is offered at events if students inquire.

    Food and Dining

The food and dining in the student union building has been recently re-evaluated. Good dining is available now, and in Fall new vendors will be offering even more dining selections. Filtered water fountains are now available around some of the student buildings; essentially it is free bottled water, just provide your own bottle.

    Dorm Life

The Community College of Denver is not affiliated with or managing any on campus housing. However there are three different college housing places nearby that they can recommend. From the students that have told me about it and from the housing websites, they are all fairly pricey, though nearby to campus.

    Academic Rigor

I started in remedial math, and they started exactly where I needed to start, it was a perfect pace. I took higher 200 levels in science classes and I felt that was an amazing challenge for me.

    Food and Dining

There is always something to eat. On campus they have fast food, cafeterias, and stores. If you cant find something their, then there is always down town that's a stop away from campus.

    Academic Rigor

Other then the trouble I have had with the financial aid, i like my school. Has different ethnicity's and easy to get around. Most of the buildings are close together. Classes have the same amount of students it can fit, no more then that. It always has activities that go on for students to look forward too.

    Tips for prospective students

For future stuents I would tell them to get their paperwork turn in ASAP because i have had trouble with CCD's financial aid office the three years I been their. They could be more organize. If you plan to park at school, you are better of buying a parking permit because parking is ridiculous down town.

    In three sentences

The Community College of Denver is cheaper then other schools, recommend going their before other schools to get your basics done. Its not far from transportation, so its easy to find a way their and back. And downtown, so after school or in between classes you can always find some thing to do.

    Food and Dining

there is great food around campus, unfortunately we don't have a cafeteria like big universities.

    Dorm Life

they offer housing but i have not tried it out. i still live with my parents.

    Academic Rigor

    What to do for fun

close to 16th street mall and a indie film theater on campus. there is also a pool hall in the student center.

    Food and Dining

right next to 16th street mall in denver so if you go to school on campus there is plenty of restaurants within walking distance. there is also plenty of eating options at the tivoli.

    Dorm Life

did not stay in a dorm.

    Academic Rigor

very good. the teachers are very supportive and will help you with scheduling issues to make sure that you can complete all of your work to get a fair grade.

    Tips for prospective students

make sure that the financial aid office has all of the information they request from you and get a verification that you turned it in!

    In three sentences

a good school for people looking to get back on track with their education. the teachers are typically very down to earth and understand that you may be here because it is the only option due to work or family schedule. the staff could be a little more helpful at the financial aid office but the advisers will help you every step of the way.

Great for these types of students

students that are social and book smart alike. all types are able to flourish in an environment so geared towards their students.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

the campus has many little nooks and crannies where you can duck away for a nap. although, with colorado's beautiful weather you may find yourself napping under a tree on the grass. The school is alive with music, live performance, protests, awareness booths, and countless other attractions. Food trucks and carts are often on campus.

    Bang for the buck

great education for a very reasonable price. financial aid is here and takes time. plan accordingly.

    What to do for fun

socielize. get out there, see denver. denvcer is a gigantic melting pot, the art musuem, the denver public library, the melting pot fondue resturant, live music everywhere, the santa fe art district, too many places to name.

    Food and Dining

plenty of stuff around campus to eat. very diverse choices, considering that downtown is only a 5 minute walk away. on campus at the famous tivoli the food court offers many options as well. vending machines are always accessible. for all you coffee drinkers, don't worry, coffee is easily accessible and starbucks is not far at all.

    Dorm Life

i do not live on the campus. however, i have many friends that do, and have stayed in the dorms. campus village is a great place to start looking.

    Academic Rigor

the work is only rigorous if you tell yourself it is. the school strongly emphasizes academia as well as involvement with your fellow student, staff, and overall campus.

    Tips for prospective students

enroll is tedious and exhausting. it is made simply online but only if you read carefully, check your account daily, be on your email everyday, and integrate it with your day to day life.

    In three sentences

ccd does offer students the opportunity to succeed but only if they want to. it shares a campus with both ucd and msu which allows students to easily take advantage of other curriculums available. ccd is a positive way for a person, man or woman, of any background or age to succeed, but only if he or she wants to.

Great for these types of students

This school is great for people going back to school who haven't been to school in a while. ccd is for people who aren't fresh out of high school, its more for people who dropped out got their GED and is turning to go further in life

    Tips for prospective students

I would say if your going back to school and haven't gone to school like I have for many years go to ccd! They help you get the ball rolling! The staff is very helpful and explain the things you need to to before and after you start school

    Bang for the buck

CCD is alot cheaper than all the the online or for profit schools

    Am enjoying being here

I do enjoy going to the school when I have to to just see all the people. When I see the other people that are my age are going to the school too. People have had rough spots in their lives and they are trying to fix it by going back to school

    Am learning a lot

I have learned allot I'm only in my second semester at ccd! I have loved it so far. I am doing online classes and I thought I would not do so well with me teaching myself I feel I have done better in school than when I had a teacher in front of me.

Great for these types of students

Great for the outdoor lovers who like to walk outside in any weather.

    Tips for prospective students

The classrooms are spread apart so keep that in mind when you register for classes. I have had to walk from one end of campus and back in a day of classes and it would be nice to have them closer. My fault.

    Bang for the buck

I think school is so expensive these days so I'm not going to give a great review here. I am happy to give my money to this school but it's way too expensive.

    Am enjoying being here

I love being back to school and being around so many motivated people. The campus is amazing and in a perfect location right downtown. The skyline is an amazing backdrop for the walk to class.

    Am learning a lot

I just finished my first semester back to college, and I am really impressed with the amazing teachers at this school. I had a brilliant and fun Algebra teacher who was such a joy, even though our class was 3 1/2 hrs long! She is very knowledgeable and I knew if I had any question to ask her, she would know the answer.

Great for these types of students

Only attend this school if you like going to school for 4 years for a 2 year degree, or if you don't mind spending tons of extra money to complete a degree. It also helps if you enjoy having idiots running your school. Good luck!

    Tips for prospective students

Check out any other schools in the area that are not operating under bankruptcy. Other schools might actually let you complete your degree to go out and make something of your self - what a concept. This school is also run by a bunch of really rude people.

    Bang for the buck

Sure, it is less expensive than many other options. Unfortunately, when you factor in all of the repeat courses they make you take and all of the time spent arguing your way through a degree, it is just as expensive as a 4 year college - and half as impressive!

    Am enjoying being here

BEWARE!!! This school is absolutely ridiculous. I have been having the WORST time trying to get this group of idiot office workers to understand my situation and nothing is working. They recently passed a rule in the AA business program that they will no longer accept transfer credits from certain schools. I was supposed to be only 2 courses away from graduating and this is the second time they have come back saying I need to repeat courses I have already completed elsewhere. AVOID THIS TERRIBLE SCHOOL - ANYWHERE ELSE IS BETTER!

    Am learning a lot

The learning process is what you make of it; I have no concerns here.

    Tips for prospective students

This school have a diffrent type of financial aid rule. Don't waist the money given for school. be smart, and don't procrastinate.

    Bang for the buck

not very expensive at all, worth the money.

    Am enjoying being here

The campus is really nice is huge, and beautiful in the summer time, the people here are really friendly. I love going to school here.

    Am learning a lot

I like the school overall, the teachers and tutors are here to help. the class size is small, so you can get individual attention. Great, huge campus to be in.

Great for these types of students

Those who need one on one help. Those who are not sure whether college is right for them.

    Tips for prospective students

Do all your work by the given deadline. Show up early for a good seat. Don't sit in the back of the class. Get to know your teachers early on.

    Bang for the buck

CCD is very affordable for what is offered. You are paying a fraction of the price as the other two schools on the campus, yet you will have most of the exact same faculties available.

    Am enjoying being here

You are exposed to many events, from movie promotions, to famous speakers. You are also exposed to a large variety of people.

    Am learning a lot

By attending CCD, you are exposed to many classes that fit your needs. This school is a great starter school for those who need the one on one help.
