Am learning a lot
In the small classes at Concordia every student receives the specialized attention they require. The professors truly care about each of their students. I am in the education program and each of the professors I have for these courses is personally invested in giving this generation's educators the very best training. All of them are either teachers currently or have taught for many many years and have a lot of useful tidbits and tips for us students about what really happens in the classroom.
Am enjoying being here
I absolutely love this college. The campus is very small and easy to walk. There is always something going on. At least twice a month there is a campus wide movie shown on a large wall, like a drive in or in the only lecture hall, like a movie theater and it is entirely free. I am Christian, so the daily chapel services and nightly worship services are extremely appreciated. I especially enjoy Offerings which is a weekly contemporary worship service.
Throughout the year there are many dances for students to attend including the Fall Ball, Boo Ball (Halloween), Yule Ball, a Valentine's day dance and the Spring Formal. Lastly, every dorm is required to do an all dorm event once a semester and an all campus event once a semester.
The residential life team truly wants all of the students to connect, so they have put each dorm into a team, and these are called Brother Sister dorms. These dorms get together for a lot of spiritual life activities and Dorm Follies, a tournament of games at the beginning of the year.
All of the activities are amazing but I must say that the thing I enjoy the most is being able to hop over to any other dorm and hang out with my friends, whereas at a larger college it could be more difficult to go to other dorms that could be blocks away.
Bang for the buck
I will admit, Concordia is not cheap, and tuition was just increased. However, if you are very particular about the environment of college you want, and you want a college that places emphasis on religion and academics while still making sure that the students have opportunities to relax, have fun, and cater to their spiritual health. Overall, I get a pretty good bang for my buck.
Tips for prospective students
Some tips for prospective students are to work closely with the financial aid office to get all the scholarships you qualify for. The financial aid staff works really hard for each student to make sure they are able to attend Concordia if they wish. Another tip is that if you do decide to attend Concordia, try a lot of different stuff. Get involved and I can assure you that you will find a lot of truly amazing people and a lot of new friends that will then be your friends all through your college experience.
Great for these types of students
This school is a fabulous choice for those looking for a small college and those looking for a college that emphasizes Christianity.

The school is right outside the heart of the cultural city of Ann Arbor. Being a college town, there is an abundance of opportunities for saving money at local stores and entertainment places. The school is small and has an extremely safe environment.
Tips for prospective students
The school is private, so explore all your options in aspects of finances. Talk to coaches, there are plenty of teams that are looking for great talents and willing to offers scholarships.
Academic Rigor
With the school being so small, the professors are always readily available for helping out their students toward success.
Dorm Life
The dorms are set up suite style meaning two students to a room separated by a bathroom and another room for two students. All the rooms are the same so there is no fighting for the the special style that everyone wants. The rules are minimal, simple, and easy to follow.
Food and Dining
The Cafe has plenty of options to choose from for such a small school. The staff is excellent and gets to know all the students by name. The Nest is also open for students to grab that snack to go or have a late night meal.
What to do for fun
Downtown Ann Arbor always has something going on. There is also the large mall of Briarwood about ten minutes away and Rave theater about five minutes away.
Bang for the buck
The school private, there isn't as much variety things on campus as there is at a public school. The people and the environment make it great.
Clubs and Activities
The athletic student body is a major part of the campus and make great social gatherings for athletes and non athletes alike.
Greek Life
There is no Greek life on campus.
Campus Safety
The campus safety are professionals and are on call 24/7 and attentive to every need.

A Great Learning Enviornment.
Christ Centered.
Allows you the best chance for success.
Tips for prospective students
Do your research and ask questions. College is an important decision that will affect the rest of your life. Concordia is a great institution to attend only if you are serious about learning and making a difference in the community. Visit campus and take a tour and then make your decision.
Academic Rigor
This is college. You need to come here prepared to learn. That being said it is NOT IMPOSSIBLE. The instructors are always willing to stay after and go the extra mile to help you succeed. There are tutors which are given for free and you can use the Academic Resource Center (ARC) which has all kinds of ways for you to gain assistance. If you stay focused on what makes first- your education, this place will be a breeze.
Dorm Life

I am a commuter student but I hear nothing but positive things from the individuals who stay in the dorms on campus. It is a beautiful place to live.
Food and Dining

The cafe is pretty awesome. This year the cafeteria is under new management and they do a great job. The average meal is about 6.00 and it's all you can eat. They have different stations for you to eat at and the food is all freshly prepared, quite often right in front of you. It is a great atmosphere.
What to do for fun

Some of the things that I do for fun is do shopping in the Ann Arbor area, attend athletic events and attend the many events that they have on campus to bring students together in a fun, safe, and healthy environment.
Bang for the buck
Although most people would not think of chapel is fun, it really is a great environment. It is always good to be a part of the worship experience.

In addition I like to bowl, play games at local arcade and just serve the disadvantaged people within the community.

Tuition is high, but is worth the cost. The class sizes, the attention you get from the instructors, administrators and other benefits make it worth it. The relationships that you build at this college will last you a life time and can take you places.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

I would not say unusual but a cool place to just sit and be to yourself is right by the Huron River on the bench. It is a nice place to study and just be alone and gather your thoughts. It is also a cool place to watch people row by and hope they don't fall in.
Great for these types of students

ANY! The unique thing about Concordia University is they allow you to Be the Voice. That is one of their mission statements in addition to the main mission of Christ First. It is great to attend a school where no matter what background you come from and what you have been through in life, you are not judged. I've been to 15 elementary schools, 8 middle schools, and 4 high schools. I've been in 3 different foster homes, 3 grouphomes and had other experiences that are just as bad in my personal and family life. Yet here I am double majoring at a great private college.
Clubs and Activities

The Office of Student Life and other departments on the Campus of Concordia University have a lot of activities for students to get involved in if they are serious about making a difference and being involved. Our athletic department also has plenty of sports for interested individuals to be involved in such as Volleyball, Soccer, Cross Country, Baseball, Basketball, Football, and Golf to name a few.
Campus Safety
There is a Office of Public Safety which is maintained 24 hours a day/7 days a week including holidays. The Office is on campus to help and not hinder students and encourages students to report any problems that they may encounter on the campus. They are friendly and not aggressive and very approachable.

Concordia is a small school with many religious activities to keep the students involved. The campus also keeps students involved through organizations relevant to the students' major. The Student population becomes so closely knit due to the small population size that Concordia is much like the home to a large family.
Tips for prospective students
Be outgoing and get to know people. It is a small community but the large city is right around the corner. People on campus are more than willing to talk and share stories with one another. Professors also make themselves available as resources, so use them!
Academic Rigor
Professors are all dedicated to seeing their students excel, but this is not a downfall. This does not mean that classes are easy but instead the professors challenge you and expect a lot from their students. They do not give out busy work but give assignments that relevant to the course work.
Dorm Life
The dorms are small and allow the students in each hall to get well acquainted and build relationships. The small residence number also allows for activities to be done as a dorm, including movie nights, cookouts, and servant events. There are also regularly scheduled dorm cleanings to ensure that they stay clean.
Food and Dining
There are two options on campus for food, the first being the cafeteria and the second being the Nest. The cafeteria's quality of food is sometimes wary, but it has been improving. The food service's contract is also up and change/improvement is in the near future. The Nest is the option for snacks throughout the day as well as late night meals. This is the place to go to hang out with friends, see who else is out and about, study, and take a food break. Events are also held there occasionally, such as euchre tournaments, open mic nights, etc.
What to do for fun
Campus does not always excel in the entertainment department, a few good friends can go a long way. Ann Arbor and city-life is also right down the road to provide recreational activities, especially on weekends when many students go home.
Bang for the buck
The sticker price is initially high, but financial aid packages provided through Concordia take care of much of the cost and can even bring it down to being cheaper than a public university.
Great for these types of students
Concordia is great for students looking for a small community. This allows teachers to build close relationships with each student. Ann Arbor is also right down the road providing a big city atmosphere right along with the small campus feel, providing an environment for every personality type and every mood.
Campus Safety
Security is able to be called at any hour of the day. They especially come in handy when you lock yourself out of your dorm room!
